Advice on a 1016 Explorer

Hi everyone - I'm looking at possibly picking up the 1016 Explorer below. Think the price is competitive but hoping to everyone's thoughts here on originality, condition etc.

Also would like to confirm the Explorer was offered with a jubilee bracelet or not.

Thanks

Looks like a nice watch but I don't have enough experience on the dial variations to determine if it is period correct with a partial serial number.

As far as your question regarding the Jubilee bracelet, yes they were offered on the Explorer.

should be many posts on evaluating - hit the search function. The handset appears to be a replacement set (length). Lots of knowledge here - stay tuned.

Depends on the price. Replacement handset isn’t uncommon, dial looks good to me. What’s the serial/what year?

The serial comes back as 1974.

Also looks like the seller has decided to pursue a live auction format, which could be a great or an issue. They were asking 16k.

For me, with a 1016 the handset has to be correct or I move on. Once you know what the correct length hands look like you’ll never see anything else when you look at it.

Thanks everyone. It's a 1974 model. When I originally spoke to the seller they were looking at pricing it at 12-15k but now that it's officially for sale it looks like they opted for a live auction format. Any thoughts on a fair price are appreciated. Thanks
