Newbie with a question on preowned DJ 36

Hi there,

I have a very old DJ 36 stainless steel, oyster band. I bought it from Bob's 6 years ago and wear it daily. It is probably 1991.

Bob's has a mostly dream watch- 36 everose-stainless, fluted bezel. It is 15 years old and nearly same price as full retail. Paying near retail for a 15 year old watch is giving me pause. it is also not a whimsical purchase.

I'm asking you all- the experts- for your thoughts on this. Good deal or pass? $9.5k out the door.

Why not just buy new? The combination you posted should still be relatively easy to source from an AD. Unless you're purposely going vintage...?

Nothing against bob. I’d just spend an additional sum and get brand new. That way I get a 5 year Rolex warranty, and I will always know the watch’s history. Good luck OP

Good points. The two ADs I've talked to basically said "It is what it is" on inventory and they don't know what they are going to get. I think that is bananas.

I will go to other ADs and see what they say. I live in Southern CA and there are many down here.

Thank you both!

Thank you both. I have spoken with two ADs who have said inventory "is what it is" and it will be hard to get what I want. Seems crazy, which is why I feel I should jump. But...if even the slightest hesitation, that tells me I should wait.

I live in southern california and there are many ADs. I'll ask a few others.

For the little bit of difference in price I’d buy new and have the 5 year Rolex warranty

Theres a lot of good watches out there for that kind of money. Its a lot of money for an older watch thats not really that rare.

If your in no rush, i personally would be looking around at AD's for something new.
