Panerai 233 Facelift Changes
Does anyone know if panerai have or intend to update the 233? I was asked today if the one I bought, (which is a jan 2009 k serial) was with the latest changes. Please can you shed some light for me.
Thanks, |

It's not the clearest of pictures, but here is the L series, thanks to Nad off Paneristi for the snapshot

i might add..
Just because you have a K or earlier, don't assume your 233 more valuable than an L or later.
Though I have owned a 233 I and J, I prefer the am/pm. Just am matter of preference. |

Sub-Dial, across the horizontal markers, and the additional hand on the sub-dial. As for my preference, well i chose the 233 over the 270 due to the AM/PM indicator, a bit too overly complicated for what it does and it does clutter up the sub-dial, taking away some of the Panerai basics.

i prefer it without the am/pm indicator. hopefully, by the time i save enough $$$, it'll still be the am/pm free dial.

I went back and forth on this.
I at first wanted the 270, got to handle them in the wild. I went with the 233 and I am glad! I am glad I got one before the changes, I just think it looks cleaner.

I think I don't really care about AM/PM indicator. Whatever I get in the end, as long as 233, nothing matter to me.

With only 4500 'Dot' 233's ever made they will become very sought after in the future when everyone and anyone can buy a am/pm dial version!
'233 Dot' is going to be a rocket |

Isn't 4500 PAM's is a lot of PAMs in a series? - ... Maybe I a wrong - I know it's not Rolex but, PAM community is a lot smaller...

In time all in good time, the 233 is highly sought after and perfect in design, changing it to the am/pm (which attracts a little critisism) will make 'the dot' the one! |

so what happens if Panerai only produce the am/pm version for one year and decide to go back to the older version.

oh, I see. I have am/pm.... no big collector model I guess. I am okay with it. I think the 233 is the watch I love the most...
Interesting though - I learned recently that my paint 177 is kind of rare. Didn't know tht until the other day.

I thought you had the 'dot', the photos you posted were of a dot 233, i don't think the AM/PM 233 is out yet, it'll be available later in the year.
And any news on when it's coming back, are the withdrawl symptoms kicking in yet

I was told somewhere that change from dot to am/pm is done midway thru K series already not from L series onwards.
If someone saw am/pm and K series then I would be interested to know what series # it is... am/pm? ugh! dot? yes. |

From what i know it was released at SIHH in January this year, there have been no sightings of it in the ADs or Boutiques for sale, so i would say it's definitely not in the K series, unless Panerai have been delayed in getting all the numbers out and they're still producing K series 233s. I think we'll start seeing the new 233 sometime this year, but a bit later as Panerai have been focusing on releasing the new models like the 312, 320, etc. Since the 233 is a current model and there is still stock they will do the L production run after the new models.

The beauty of the 233/289 is its simplicity and symmetry. I do not like the am/pm indicator and rarely wear my 270.
