Vintage Tudor 94010 Servicing
Hi all, I have a Tudor Submariner Oyster Prince 94010, sn 897xxx (aka black bay ancestor). I love the watch but have had issues with condensation getting in the crystal on rainy/humid days so I wear it very rarely. I sent it to a well known watch servicer in Tampa, and was told that the case was slightly warped which is causing the problem sealing and there is nothing they can do short of replacing the case, which is near impossible to find, and kind of changes the whole watch from the original.
Is there anyone out there that specializes in these types of vintage watches that thinks there might be another workable option? I don't plan on making this my every day watch, but it would nice to be caught out in the rain and not have to worry that I'm destroying a family heirloom. Appreciate any help! |

It sounds like you would need to have someone machine the top of the case flat, and then it would need to be refinished. If cost is no object, then you could contact Beau at LA Watchworks and see if he'd be willing to take it on. My guess is that nobody is going to want to do this, because it would be hard for them to guarantee that they could make it water-tight again, and it could just end up being a money pit.
