That's cool that your great grandfather recognised quality without the need to solicit opinions from the internet!

AP have an historian who is curating the Museum's collection, why don't you drop AP an email. I've no idea who to send the email to other than the main AP [email protected] email address and that may takes AGES to get a reply from, but it's worth a 'fire and forget' email. It would be nice to know the details and history etc.

Edit:

AP tend to use sensible email addresses, so you could try emailing a combination of the historian's name. His name is Michael Friedman, so try Michael.friedman@ or Michaelf@, you get the idea. Either your email will find its way to the destination or it will bounce back or it may find its way to a different member of staff who may forwarded it to the correct Michael Friedman. Good luck.

You ever opened the casebook? To be honest it doesn't look genuine. The level of finishing looks quite low and I have never seen that logo. Then again, I am not an expert.

...You're saying AP makes pieces besides the Royal Oak?

In all seriousness, I've been on the hunt for a Jules Audemars Chronograph in steel for quite a while, but have been trouble finding one on the condition/price spectrum domestically that seems reasonable.

Nice watch, I like seeing APs besides ROs, especially ones passed down with some history. It could probably use a nice cleanup, perhaps clean the glass, small polish, and new strap and it would look even better.

Maybe a new strap will be nice. Would not want to polish down its history tho
