The 15300 is a PHENOMENAL watch — and (to me) is the perfect size - the 39mm embodies the more traditional AP style.
Having said that It doesn’t wear anything like a sub - in terms of size, comfort etc. The bracelet is VERY different as well - and will take some getting used to - especially compared to Rolex. (I am a BIG AP fan - and Patek as well) I would highly recommend the 300 over the 4/500s. The 450 is an option too... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Absolutely. Best RO in my opinion. I often teeter on the jumbo over this but in the end, its just perfect for me.

Had to take a second look at that pumpkin in the background. At quick glance, I thought you were overlooking a balcony and there was a very large, round man in an orange shirt photobombing your RO. |

15300 is definitely the way to go.. feels a lot more solid (to me) than a 15202 too...
Screw in crown, water resistant, quickset date, thicker and wel proportioned case and bracelet... I had the blue one, but now actually prefer the black as it is the only 15300 dial that has a sunburst effect... |

I didn't know the black had the sunburst effect. I sometimes miss the sunburst on my blue dial RO |

As did I. The black dials of the 15300, 15400 and 15500 are all the same. Below is a pic of my 15300 next to a new 15500 so you can see the dials are identical. Please also note the disproportionate size of the 15500’s bezel in combination with the dial and the markers. (Too thin?) I believe this pic really shows the 15300’s proportions are best of all royal oaks, even the vintage ones. (IMO) |

This pic really shows how perfect the 15300 proportions are, bezel to dial and case to bracelet ratios are so well balanced. |

Well said, the 15300 (and 15400 IMO) definitely looks more "Royal Oaky", not feeling the thinner bezel which is similarly repeated on the back, thicker case, fatter markers, and prototype looking dial. I do however like the new movement but not the rotor. |

Best AP Royal Oak imho.
Screw crown, more solid and second hand make it more appealing to me than the 15202. Love the Stern Frères dials as well. Also, it is possible to get both black and white dials from AP so you can change up the look. The watch wears differently from Rolex pro models, as the bracelet is rounder on the wrist. Unless you have a very small wrist I would not even consider a 15450, imho it won’t wear like a RO was intended. Condition is critical but a mint AP serviced box papers is actually a tremendous buy considering how much better suited it is to most people than the 41mm versions. |

I agree with all the points mentioned here. It’s an outstanding reference that retains the history of the original royal oak in size/proportions but adds some very useful modern features.

I love the silver dial 15400 but not the matte white that’s on the 15300. If you could have the 15300 size with the silver dial of the 15400 I’d be a taker.

15300 dials are very flat compared to the 15400 and 15450, even the 15202.

very nice watch but that dial is indeed flat compared to newer models. i guess it's white on the 15300 and "silver" on the others

Flat seems like something you wouldn’t want, as in a flaw. I have seen all the RO versions numerous times, the dial on the 15300 is one of its great attractions. It is reflective just not overly so and is not metallic. Today taking a few rays Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So I have found one in UK ....but.....Its a Blue dial but started life as a white ..and has no box or papers just an extract from the AP archives....
bracelet scuffing but other than that ok Am I better waiting for an all original 'Blue' from birth with all the bits ? or would you consider a swopped dial example without B&P ? |

Just picked up a white dial 15300 as my first AP and absolutely love it. My wrist is on the small side and it fits me perfectly. Also own a BLNR and SubC LV and it's the perfect trio for me right now! If OP can find one in good condition for a good price I say go for it
