BLNR Duo?
Good day to one and all.
I have a Rolex 116710BLNR and I’m currently in the process of procuring a second watch to make up a duo. I’ve been going back and forth between getting a 116610LV or a 126300 (blue dial + jubilee + smooth bezel). I’m torn between the two and have been going back and forth at a local grey dealer who has both. It’s important to see both on the wrist to be 100% sure. I’m drawn to the LV but being totally honest, that’s due in part to wanting to own a popular model and the color is incredible. The downside is how two of them will sit in a duo. A part of me feels they’re incredibly similar in looks too. I’d value any thoughts especially from those that have both? I don’t intend to buy a third Rolex. |

I have the Oyster BLNR and LVc.
A lot of people would struggle having the LVc as an only watch - though personally I wouldn’t have a problem with it as the colour of the dial and bezel is pretty subdued, at least in good ol’ Blighty where the sun is a mythical object. But in any event the BLNR is as versatile a sports watch as you’ll find so I think it would work perfectly well as a two-watch collection. BLNR and LVc may look similar to non-watch folk but really there are more than enough differences to keep you interested and because the colours are so contrasting each will go with different attire. If you can get the LVc at retail and if you’re unsure about it vs the DJ then it still makes sense to go ahead and get it regardless since if you don’t bond with it you’ll easily get your money back.

I also own the 116610LV and the 116710BLNR as my two-watch collection. It’s difficult to describe just how differently the two watches really wear and how well they compliment each other. I typically grab the LVc throughout the week as more of a daily, and I lean on the BLNR when traveling or when going out. The BLNR feels more formal due to the PCLs, slimmer lugs, and subdued colors, and the LVc feels more rugged and casual since it’s brushed and brightly colored.
Definitely biased, but I think it’s the best duo out there. Big vote for picking up the 116610LV. |

That case was designed perfectly. It’s amazing how many watch cases including very expensive ones like Louis Vuitton we designed so poorly and therefore don’t function right.
OP that is a tough choice. I have all three but I use the date just mostly for when I’m wearing suits. The BLNR and LV are more for casual at least for me. You might want to grab the green sub now because you’ll always be able to get a date just. so get the LV now and save up for a DJ later.

I love a GMT and Sub combo and the green sunburst dial is one of the best. The DJ would make a nice 3rd if that becomes an option.

The LV and the DJ are both great watches but I think the LV is special. The colors are amazing and I think the green works with more than a lot of people give it credit for. A two watch collection of the BLNR and the LV touches a lot of bases and then you can save up for a DJ. Good luck.

I also have the LVc and BLNR oyster, in addition to three other watches. If I had to go down to a two watch collection, they would be the ones that stay. At first I didn’t really like the LVc, but it grew on me and I bought it. Now I could never be without. The BLNR is just as fantastic. I wear it more sparingly and whenever I travel.

Thank you all for the input. I’m going to do some more thinking and will hopefully share an incoming shortly. Thanks.
