Submariner to small

I just tried on the hulk today at a grey and wanted to see if you all think it looks to small. I felt like it did feel tiny even with the newer large case. I have been thinking about something bigger like the Seadweller but haven’t tried one on yet. Does anyone own both and can compare the major difference in the 43 vs the 40 case and the thickness.

Depends what you wear regularly, I used to think my BLNR was small but after wearing my OP39 for few weeks it feels huge

Also it does not too small on you, maybe a bit low on the wrist tho

Have to agree watches look best when worn just above the wrist bone, and today many think that bigger heavier is better god know why.But with today's stereo typed trend that bigger and heavier is better I have just heard from Rolex CEO who is a personnel friend, that sometime in 2020 all watches will be made of a special lead alloy instead of SS.But this is no ordinary lead, this lead is super refined and cerachrom coated. And I heard that Rolex is going to launch a range of watches Basel 2020 with interchangeable cases, ranging from 40mm, 42mm, 44mm,46mm right up to 72mm for when you want a super super-size wear watch day .Now this range will be supplied with easy open case backs that are self sealing, just pop open, pop out movement and change case and wear. But again like many rumours some of these rumours are just rumours, myself find the 40mm sub range a perfect size, and quite happy to wear my vintage 30mm ones too. Myself over 6ft tall and have 8 half inch wrists, myself hope they keep the Sub, SD at the same perfect 40mm size, bigger is not always better and myself don't follow fashion trends.

Damn you Peter, you had my going when you said the CEO was a personal friend! The rest however was less convincing!

Great to get some actual facts for a change. I'm getting fed up with all the "my ad said" rumours. Well done Peter.

I wore a 42 omega and 47 BP. Tried on a sub and it felt tiny. After wearing the sub for a while the other watches felt huge. You get use to whatever your wearing unless it is huge or tiny. Sub fits great on your wrist.

I own a sub and SD43. Definitely gravitate towards the seadweller more as the proportions are perfect in my eyes. The SD43 case is beefier, but judging your wrist pic with that sub on, the SD43 would fit you perfectly.

I don’t think it looks too small but I think it actually looks a little too high on the wrist to me. It also looks like his wrist is cocked to the side a bit so it might be throwing the picture off.

I have both an LVc like you have pictures and a SD43. The sub is perfectly fine but does take a minute to get used to coming from the seadweller. It does feel a bit dainty in comparison, which is kind a amusing given how many people say they beat the hell out of their subs. A couple hours in though it always feels perfect and you forget it’s there unlike the SD

I have had the Sub Pre-Ceramic, the LVc and the SD43. Of those, I bonded most with the SD43 and still have it. I like the wrist presence

I think the size is fine. It just looks a little tight on your wrist. That glidelock clasp should make it perfect.

The sub is a 40 mm watch. Unles your wrist size is greater than 73/4 then you can probably be comfortable with the sub as it isn't too small.

If you normally wear a larger watch then putting on a smaller one will feel small by comparison until you become used to the size. I always have a brief adjustment period whenever I put on one of my smaller watches but eventually your mind gets used to it.

This should be the case unless your the type of man who is insecure and associates his masculinity with the size of his watch. In which case, no watch will ever be big enough for you ;)

Also check out the Sea-dweller, good middle ground between subs and DSSD. By the way, what happened to that thread asking about how hot Seadweller values are? That thread was great popcorn fodder :)

I'm pretty sure that if divers and special forces have had no problem using 40mm for the last 50 years you should be fine sat at your desk

I feel you:
Sub is too small for me. Feels like a tiny toy jewelry on my wrist. The Deepsea is too big&thick, but the Seadweller 50th Ann. is perfect. With the Seadweller I got the feeling that the watch hugs my wrist.

Just to share my perspective:

All I can say is that the Explorer 1 (39mm) feels bigger than the Sub (40mm) on the wrist.
Sub feels smaller and I guess it is because the dial is bigger in the E1. Sub has the big bezel that makes it feel smaller.

If you want somehting bigger try the SD43 or the Eplorer 2 which wear a lot bigger.

Hulk doesn't look too small on your wrist.
But if you think otherwise, the SD43 might be the perfect watch for you.
As an owner of both, I can tell you the SD43 fits perfect if you have the right wrist for it.
