What would be the best watch to get for someone just starting full time on Wall Street? Some possibilities but other opinions are welcome...
1. Submariner (steel black)
2. DateJust (steel black)
3. DeepSea (steel black)

Would black be the best combo with steel for every day Wall Street attire?

considering you would most likely have to wear a suit to work everyday I would go with a Datejust.

DJ seems like a nice choice. Depending on the firm the daytona might stand out quite a bit these days (might or might not be the intended effect).

I think the 2nd time zone would be of help....

If you aren't going to go with either of those
from your choices Id pick the deep sea

1) It will stand out and not everyone on the floor will have it BUT it may not be ideal under a suit depending on what style suits you wear.

2) I think you will truly be able to test the depth rating as you are diving
into a DEEP pile of crap just starting in the market now with this economy.

3) A DJ will of course be the classic choice. Id say wait till the DJ II starts to ship and get yourself a SS one.... That will really be nice!

I have always thought that a white face works great at the office, so of the 3 models mentioned, a Datejust SS White/Roman gets my vote. Its the classic work/office watch.

IMO a Deepsea is not much good with a shirt cuff and a DJ at 36mm might be on the small side.
How about a GMT IIc. Probably the most popular Rolex at this time.
I enjoy wearing my GMT II TTc and would probably have bought the SS model if they had been available at the time.

I couldn't think of a more odd looking watch on someone from New York City. A Sub to me yells water sports. . Surfing, skiing, or beach activities in general. All that concrete makes a Sub seem seriously out of place. I'd go DJ without a doubt.

My big bro is a city bod, he and his friends prefer the sports watches. As you've just started, I think you should go for the sub/ sea dweller. If they ever start giving out bonus' again, I'm sure you'll buy a daytona.

I would recommend the Day-Date if you have the money, but if not, the Datejust. If you buy a Submariner, they will assume you bought it on Canal Street.

A rotating bezel may make you more aware of how little things can eat up a day. It is a tool watch, in an elegant way.
I time particularly long-winded supervisors in meetings, especially when they say "Just one more quick point before we break".

Not that I'm biased, but a Sub, GMT, or TOG are all fine. TOG is my first choice, however.
