Exactly eight years ago...

...I bought my first Rolex, a 116610LN.

No relationship to this AD, lead time was about 10 days and discount without even asking was 7%. How times have changed.

Wow what a stunner... Beautiful and 7% crazy?!! What was the price then if you don't mind me asking? I'm perplexed around the 10 day lead time... Weren't they just available in the window? My Hulk was two days lead time in 2016...

GMT, Explorer and Milgauss were available in the window, the Submariner took a few days to arrive.

List price was 6250 EUR back then.

6250 euros.... Yes that would be right because if I recall, there was no price increase then up until 2017. Hope you have worn it in good health and continue to do so

I’m surprised there was even any lead time at all. Eight years ago every model was available in ADs to try on and buy at will. Subs, even Hulks, were just sitting in display cases.

Nonetheless, yes it is very different times. Even more different now, since ADs aren’t even open anymore.

Great watch! You can wear that one for the rest of your life and never need another.

Was a Daytona available then too? I wish I asked in 2016 the watch has grown on me since...

when the 116610LV first came out i walked into an AD and tried it on. didn’t like it and bought the 116610LN instead, i ended up selling the 116610LN a few years later and bought 16610LV, couldn’t be happier.

Back then things were normal. The last several years were abnormal. Some people have it reversed.

Can you imagine sports SS models just sitting in a display case?

No joke had a dream last night that my wife and I walked in to an AD with a full display case of SS sports. In it sat a Hulk, white explorer 2, and a Pepsi. The AD said I would get 15% off if I bought two. I picked the explorer and Pepsi. Man times sure have changed.

Funny enough that even in 2012 Rolex already asked their ADs to remove the stickers but many didn´t comply with this rule back then.

Very nice, and just shows the dramatic contrast compared to the last few years.

In 2016, I bought a ND sub for my first rolex from the case and subsequently caught the bug. Next to it was a BLNR that I also really liked.

I went back a month later and bought the BLNR. It didn’t move that entire time.

I bought my sub c in 2014, no relationship at the AD, standard discount was 18% on a credit card or 20% cash. I was also offered a BLNR which was in the case. Meh I passed on it. I bought a brand new Bluesy in early 2015 and got 23% off. Yes times have changed!

By 2o16, the 11661o LN was already +/- 8k at ADs. LVs and BLNR were still available for everyone. It was that year the frenezy really took off.
