SS Daytona love affair
This model got quite some detractors since it lost its "grail Status" in North America. I have to say this is my ultimate rolex and i wear it everyday and anywhere. and i just can't shake off that daytona love affair i have right now. even when it's just on my table while i'm reading or doing some work it just winks and smiles at me all the time and it never fails to make me smile as well. Now i'm thinking of flipping the others and ultimately just keeping this one because i just don't want to wear anything else but this...
Long live the myth and long live the legend

Its a beauty! I own both a black and my favorite SS Daytona dial the White!
However since I got my GMT II C it has suffered from loneliness... Its a beauty though for sure! #2 on my wrist allocation.. |

I think the problem is that a lot of people had these down as grails, and now that they're available at MRSP or close to it, and actually attainable people are starting to find faults and reasons not to buy, it's a problem with a lot of grails that people have, once they have the funds and the ability to buy it the doubts start to surface.
I have to say i did have a thought about getting one myself, it was never a 'grail' to me, but i did want to see what the fuss was about, for years it was a struggle to get one of these, but in the last year i've been offered 3 of them at MRSP, none of them new from shops as they're still rare as rocking horse manure, but the secondhand market has dropped a bit. I'm actually waiting in hope to see what they revamped Daytona will look like, will it be bigger, will it have a date, i'm hoping for both

Don't worry too much about the grail thing. It is a beautiful watch and that's what counts for us 'wearers' - and not 'flippers'.
The new trend might just bring those masterpieces to the admirers of the watch (for design and movement) rather than to the ones that must have it for status reasons. Since I bought it, all my other watches are seriously under-cared for and get hardly any wrist time. I myself thought about flipping some of them as they just collect dust. |

So is there a new model coming out and if so when? I really like the model as it is now.

I actually would not say that it has lost its grail status...
