Exactly what I did

Sorry for a slice of ceramic, I rather hang onto my 509 then pay these silly prices for an SS piece.

A SS watch for 27K, that's just nutty.

This is not true. Highest has been around 27,750 with ALL stickers and with NO name on card asked by DavidSW.

And David generally gets very close to asking price, not more than 250 to 700 off generally, depending on the price of the piece, of course.

He had a partially stickered white d500 that sold yesterday for 26k.

Sold all his Hulks.

I have these watches and I don't care to go grey, but just wanted to properly inform

I believe The premium for watch concerned Is due to the new type warranty card that does not include buyers name written on it.

Sales prices of Daytona w Old type warranty cards are plummeting as those have now become virtually worthless.

The watch still has the older style warranty card but it does have all stickers in place.

Sorry, I do not see the difference and why the warranty card should affect the price. The warranty carries on to whoever the owner is, so I understand if somebody does not like having somebody else's name on their warranty card which would stop them from buying second hand. I do not see why somebody would pay X amount more at a grey dealer depending on the type of card they have.

At these prices spend a little more and get a 116515 or 116519. This is ridiculous.

IMHO I think a 116519 is overpriced as well. 30k for a watch on rubber.

At least it’s a gold watch on rubber. Can’t say as much for the patek 5164a at 35k.

I’ve done quite a few deals with David and his prices are exactly that, his. Doesn’t mean everyone has to like or agree. I mean he also has a 214270 over 8k. So it is what it is. Can’t blame someone for asking for all they can. To his credit he also has some really good deals from time to time. He had a SDK under 12k a few months back which was less than anyone around. He’s obviously doing something right based upon his success and not to mention his prices. If he was struggling to sell inventory I’m sure he’d be a good bit lower but all signs point to the opposite. I tend to look around and compare then communicate.

There’s always other sellers out there.

Quite crazy how prices recently have rocketed. I believe it's partially due to ADs not receiving new shipments hence very limited supply. I believe once more watches start coming in, prices will soften.

Here in Asia just a month ago I could pick up an unworn 116500 white dial for 21,500 USD but right now they are going for minimally 23.5k

That's like a two thousand increase in price in just one month.

Seen these threads and price increases over last 5 years. Waited on picking up a daytona over and over. Recently bit the bullet and never been happier. But yes - I did notice a recent uptick in Daytona prices in last few weeks.

Great ,Picked up mine last week ,partially sticker-ed (I guess the AD missed few ) At current exchange rate $11000 .

$27 minus $11k = $16k

Daytona is all about elementary school maths ?..

...which means that it nice to know, if its not for sale .
This is exactly the reason sports Rolex should not be sold to flippers .
It also makes it difficult for honest ADs to decide who to sell them to.
..and this is what makes life difficult for the first time Rolex buyer. The AD must now decide if you are a instant profit hunter or someone that will buy more in future.

I wish all those looking to ad a ss Daytona to their collection ,all the best .It can be an agonizing and frustrating wait .

At $27K ,well,you be the judge .
Will also have to see if this pricing can be maintained .

The price of used pieces have not moved much. It's the brand new ones that are going up. I believe it is because most ADs have not been receiving shipment. Honestly the people with the spending power who can comfortably afford five figure time pieces aren't going to be affected by the current global situation much. But once shipment starts going back to normal, prices are likely to soften again.

There are a lot of people who make a lot of money....I’m not in a position to pay that premium but I won’t be mad at David when he does get it... you get what you pay for and if that means paying $10k over retail and owning it tomorrow or wait some obscene amount of time and maybe not get it or some bundle buying crap a lot of AD’s unfortunately feed people, then that works for a surprising amount of people.

I’m with the go PM at that price crowd. Not even a question. These are strange times indeed.

Anything is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Unfortunately while ever anyone is prepared to pay these crazy prices, they will just keep getting higher & higher.

Personally, I am not in a position to be able to justify spending that kind of money on just one watch - especially knowing it’s massively inflated over retail regardless of availability issues at the AD.

Even if I was I don’t think I would just on principle.

Having said that, ‘IF’ I was ever, I think I would rather go for the rose gold version with chocolate dial - man that’s a beautiful watch, especially he older version with numbers rather than markers at the hour positions.
