Breitling SuperOcean Rainbow
After a long week dealing with COVID this was a nice surprise.
Mini review: Pros: Love the interface of the concave dial with the convex crystal Great sunburst blue dial Of course the rainbow lume Very light and thin Cons: Build quality Links don’t “mesh” well with the mesh bracelet No half link or adjustability (will always takes a glidelock over any other bracelet) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great watch! Is that the galleria in Houston?
I ask because I got my DJ there years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow that's a pretty cool dial! I agree with you on the "mesh" bracelet but I think it does fit this model much better visually.

Congrats
What's the issue with the build quality?

Yes this is Houston galleria but only for sizing. Ordered from a different boutique.
Coming from Other brands doesn’t seem as “solid” as other pieces. More toy like.

Congrats! T4S your "first take" - re. build quality - let's see how you feel after you've had it a while I tried one on (std. black) the other day but it was on leather so I can't comment about the bracelet; the watch itself looks great but I didn't really spend enough time to get a real feeling for it.
Enjoy it & please keep us posted

would really want to hear more about the SO57 build quality, as we've received rave reviews up to now, what other mesh are you comparing it with?
Admittedly there is the shortcoming of a microadjustment clasp for both the New CHronomat and the "case fit Milanaise" we designed for the SO57, as both did not allow that without massively compromising the sleek "seamless" design approach, but I'd really want to hear your thoughts/criticism regarding the build quality? |

how are you getting along with the watch? was planning on waiting for it, then even thought about a rado capt cook, and now back to considering the plain blue so57

Actually holding up well
Again I guess the light weight made it “feel” not as solid. Biggest gripe is the bracelet, the mesh links are unsightly. Will probably put a strap on.

Finally tried one on. Liked it but I see what you mean about the feel. Then again my first time trying on a 15202 I thought the bracelet felt tinny and I still don't think the nautilus bracelet is that nice... Didn't realize the bezel didn't click, and dang what a dish. My wife was like what the heck is with that watch. Anyways I still think it's cool but don't know if I'd pull the trigger.

Call me old and conservative, but that is too much for my taste. But if you like it, go for it.

Can you comment more on the build quality? Is it not robust or does it just feel more vintage and less reassuring than say Breitling’s modern pieces? To be fair, my Omega Speedmaster Professional feels less reassuring than my Rolex Submariner, but to me that’s part of the charm.
As far as the bracelet, I agree with you. I think the construction is fantastic, but the sizing links are flawed. I like more what Omega did with the new titanium Bond edition Seamaster 300 bracelet. The mesh links look sloppy and ruin what is otherwise a fantastic bracelet. |

Congrats! I have the black dial version on strap and couldn’t be happier. It has enough “funk” to stand out in the crowd and it is super light and comfortable on the calfskin strap which I would recommend you try to get a different look and feel. As to build quality, it depends on your definition. It is not as “robust” and “hefty” as a traditional diver and wears thin and light but I would not say that the quality is lacking in any way whatsoever. Just my opinion, it is built as well as the other Breitlings I have. YMMV
