Any pool/billiards players?

Are there any pool players in here?

I have seen many pool players come and go in my neck of the woods. A few of them seem to be Rolex fans.

I've seen Daytonas, Subs, GMTs, YM and I had a gentleman put up his Tag Heuer to play me.....lol.....I let him keep his watch and took $100 instead.

What cue do you shoot with? Play 9-ball or 8-ball? Collect any cues?

Here's mine, it's a McDermott Pool Cue. I've had it for about 12 years. I used to play in amateur 9-ball tournaments, but I'll play 8 ball as well. I prefer playing on 8 foot tables (hence 9 ball) vs the 9 foot tables. Bar tables are just fun because you don't really have to worry about setting up the next shot as much.

That cue reminds me of my old Norwela, custom made 17.5 ounce, green with white irish linen. That cue had a soft hit but was unfortunately grabbed by someone at the bar. I still play in tournaments on occasion but it's not the same as it was 10 years ago.

Bar tables are fun but I usually play on the 9ft.

That stinks that someone would nick a cue like that. Very nice! My cue is 21 ounces, I prefer the heavier sticks myself. I haven't played in a tournament for about 10 years, I'm not even sure I can even hit anymore it has been so long.

i shoot.. table in the house and all..

i shoot with a SL3 Schon... 8 or 9 ball, but prefer 8 or straight pool

I used to manage a pool hall in my teenage years!

Snooker was the game of my choice!

A 9 foot table with balls the size of peanuts!!! You can very good, very quickly in this scenario!

Snooker is usually played on a 6x12 table, though there are 5x 10 snooker tables. Efren Bata Reyes! He and Francisco are my idols. I modeled my stroke after them, super loose grip, kind of see-saw stroke, etc.

I know a local pool player and Efren Reyes is the godfather of his kids. He came to our pool hall and gave an exhibition. That guy is magic.....

I love shooting pool and worked in a pool hall in college 32 years ago. I enjoy 8-ball, 9-ball and prefer straight pool. I got my cue in college off of another player who needed money($30.00) and it has inlay pearl and is I believe 22 or 23 ounces!!!
Funny thing is a month later she expected me to sell it back to her.....

Yes. A couple of months ago my neighbor told me that she had a pool table that I could have if I wanted it. Nice heavy slate table with ball return. I only called it "nice" and heavy after I got it moved into my house. She also gave me 2 sets of balls 8 ball and 9 ball racks and about 10 pool hall quality cues. It is good to have nice neighbors.

i prefer snooker...using a master-cue pro series....17 ounces...i played for like 12 yrs...

Snooker!! Probably 10 snooker tables in NYC....I kind of know the rules, but when I play, I just practice shotmaking...after an hour of 'potting' balls, pool table pockets seem like sewers! You will find out REAL quick how straight your stroke is after playing snooker.

Worked at a pool hall when I was 17, free table time, I'd shoot for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Few tournaments I played, I was ranked a B...I know the APA has a whole different system (skill level 2-7). I'm probably a weak C right now...but I'm starting to shoot more and 're learn' my stroke.

Sucks, the biggest action room in the city Broadway Billiards shut down last month and my pool hall took out their lockers and transformed into a yuppish/hipster dump. I hate lugging my cues around so I play with warped house cues

I have/had a bunch of cues, some production, 1 custom. My favorite is my Southwest. You guys think you baby your watches? I'm scared to hit with this thing! My main is My Josswest...always like a lighter cue-18.5 oz

I think that's why Allison Fisher is just awesome when she plays 9 ball and has been a champ for so long. She started as a Snooker pro and moved to 9 ball.

Yes sir! Same with Karen Corr, Kelly Fisher, etc. BUT, 9 ball is a different animal. You might be laser accurate from aiming center pocket for years in snooker, but you can't move the cue ball around by cheating the pocket because there's NO cheating the pockets in snooker.

I think a snooker player would adapt to pool quicker than a pool player to snooker. Might seem obvious, but isn't always the case. Steve Davis wasn't a great 9 ball player, but on the other hand the late great Steve Mizerak and 'King' James Jim Rempe did well in snooker in the 80s

You are a pool player, judging by the pool lingo that you speak of. APA is for recreational guys and I would shoot 7+. I would have to give weight if we were gambling. Just don't put your watch up for the race of 5. I won't take it......I will never take another man's watch, unless I paid for it.

Josswest is a very sweet cue and I would hold on to it, if I had one. My grail cue is the Balabushka but that's everyone's grail. 18.5 is a good weight and I won't go over 19oz.

Don't know California that well, but you shoot at Hardtimes? That's Bellflower/Sacramanto, I have no idea....

As far as you and me....if you're in NY, or by chance I'm in Cali, we'll shoot some! One month of practice won't bring my game back up, but at least I'll be in stroke.....I hate name droppers, but I have to...I've gambled with Ginky, played Robles for fun, Frankie H, Fran Crimi, and the toughest out of all of them was a very good road guy, 'Caorlina Slim', or Slim for short. He got me for $1200....we could play cheap sets---thing about me, I NEVER take weight, even if I'm playing Bustamante.

What's your game? It's all 9 ball here, but 14.1 is my passion. High is 60ish, not something to brag about whatsoever, but that was at age 23. Now I'm lucky to put 25 together. Nice to have a fellow shooter on the forums!

Oh and Kim Dvenport was one of my clients!! Made him decent $, but got smacked with the rest of the mkt... :( Nicest guy in the world, but all my Accu Stats, he seemed like an arrogant pri*k...

What a BEAUTIFUL table!! If I had the room, I'd get a snooker table instead of a 4.5x9 ft pool table. If I had the room actually, I'd get a snooker, pool, and carom(no pockets) table

I must tell you that, "You have an awesome table and room!" I am sure you can host our TRF pool tourney!.... I wish I had a game room like that. I am envious now, maybe sell some watches and remodel the house...LOL....
