1601 replacement dial prices
Hey guys, been thinking of getting a replacement dial for my 1601 as I would prefer a sliver one. I’ve located a mint dial on chrono but the seller is asking 575$ USD and my watch maker said it’s way to high. So with that said...
What are you going rates for a mint Rolex 1601 dial or what would be a fair price for a mint silver dial? Thanks! |

So if I got the seller down to 500$ plus shipping would that be somewhat reasonable?

If there aren't any others available, then a reasonable price is what you are willing to pay and the seller is willing to accept... |

Only silver dial I have, the Lume is missing at 3, otherwise excellent. I’d let it go for $175. Most of these dials are crazy prices though. |

Are they YG? Dials with gold markers generally command less than their steel counterparts

Not the right color for you, but you should be able to get one for ~$300 with gold markers |

If your watch is not a 2 tone, avoid yellow gold markers.
Another option is to get a service dial from rolex. They still make them for the 1601. |

Interesting. How do you know that to be true? I was recently told by a watchmaker with a Rolex parts account that RSC no longer services and have no parts for Vintage DJ 1601 and 1603 variants.

That’s an interesting suggestion. I think the only way for me to get a service dial from Rolex is through a service which I don’t want to do. If you know away to get definitely let me know haha

They don't sell them separately. Only available at the time of an rsc service.

is your watch silver or two-tone? If it's silver, then any two-tone dial is going to make your watch incorrect.

Yes that is true but when RSC does that they keep your old dial. My current dial is fine, I just want to switch it up a bit, plus a dial from RSC will cost way more, due to the service cost, than any dial on currently on eBay. |

True, but then you would have a watch with all now factory internals keeping cosc time if that matter to you.
You could also buy a garbage dial on ebay and send that in for rolex to confiscate ;) they would work on it even if the hands are missing. |

I guess you have a point there with the garbage dial, but I just got the watch serviced last year so I’m good for another 5ish years. In the meantime I’ll think about the rsc option, but RolliWorks is also very appealing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rolliworks does good case work and bracelet work. Not sure they can get original new 1601 parts or not? Definitely they can't get service dials.

Good point, maybe I’ll do a rolliworks overhaul first then send it to RSC for a internal service so that all the gears can be replaced. Just hope they still service the 1570 movements, which I think they will Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can’t believe it
So I was looking through eBay at 2am my time because I couldn’t sleep and decided to search eBay. I thought that for fun I would check out the “completed/sold” when searching for a silver 1601 dial. Came across the exact dial I’ve been looking for at 207$ USD all in, but since it was in the complete/sold I thought “ugh that’s my dial, I missed out”. However, I clicked on it, just to convince myself that I didn’t miss out, and lo and behold I was given an option to buy it now, make an offer and add to my watch list. I messed the seller to see verify that I wasn’t dreaming, then sent in a offer, but after sending in the offer I saw that he already had 5 inquiries so I decided to pay the $200 USD and secure my dial. I just hope he still has it, fingers crossed haha. Thanks again guys for the advice, in a matter of days I was able to find the dial I was looking for, at about half the cost of the original one in question https://www.ebay.ca/itm/143607599978 #watchgodsarereal XD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

there are some 1601's made for the saudi market that had gold markers and gold hands on an oyster steel bracelet with a 18ct wg fluted bezel.
I have one that has original dial (sigma) and full matching paperwork, I thought it was a dial change until i did a lot of research into it! |
