Price Increase

I have been told that May 1st is the day and I have also been told something else quite interesting. Apparently in the UK, Rolex will no longer be taking deposits on new watches. You will have your name put on a list and then will get called in list order when a watch comes in. In reality we all know what this means and if you do not please do not ask me.

When I ordered one of my watches I put a deposit down and it fixed the price. The rrp went up with one of the rises and so I had a good deal as I paid the pre increase price.
This move by rolex will stop this.

I have already paid a deposit on my GV so if there was to be a price increase would I still pay the old price as stated on my deposit receipt?

depends... if the watch is in stock, i'd say no. if you're waiting for delivery sometime in the future, i'd say you'd have to pay what the current retail price is going for.

put my deposit down on my PAM 292 1.5 years ago and the price has gone up $1700. still no word as to when i'll get it either.

I'd say no too. I ordered a panerai back in feb, paid a deposit, agreed a price, received a receipt of my deposit with the agreed price on it. 6 weeks down the line was then told by the AD that the watch would not arrive before the next price rise and that when it does eventually arrive I would have to pay the increased price...even though we had already agreed a price. I called the OFT and even though I had proof of the agreed price the dealer legally doesn't have to stand by it if their t&c's say so. It's up to the consumer to check the t & c'S of sale. If I'd paid in full rather than just a deposit it would have been different.

No reason why rolex would be different to panerai. My advice if you're worried about paying the increased price on a pre ordered watch pay in full now.

The only bad news is that the VAT dropped to 15% from 17.5% bythe time that the watch arrived. I had to pay the order price which included 17.5% VAT and I am still fighting to get my money back on this.
Only a smallish amount but VAT goes to the government not the AD. They will have only contributed only 15% to the governments coffers on my sale.

However, I was in my AD yesterday to finalise some details on the DJII (before the supposed price hike today) and intend to go in and place my deposit and order over the weekend. They didnt mention a price increase, but did confirm that placing a deposit protects you from price increases.

Perhaps this is how you can make a wad on putting deposits down on 7 year waiting lists...

I'd get that in writing. I can assure you if you'd been on a waiting list 5yrs for a Daytona, they wouldn't be charging you 2004 prices, deposit or not.

It would depend on the agreement you make with the AD. WoS would only hold the price for 3 months.

This is totally AD dependant. There is no Rolex shop so how they can instruct AD's what to do with deposits is beyond me??

Deposits in the UK are generally not required anyway. I think it's more of a US kinda thing. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I heard that the impending price increase is due to the increased manufacturing cost of the Rolex box set.

Apparently it's shot up to lofty £0.89 per box to manufacture.

Most of the range are going up 8%. However the GMTIIC is going up to over 5k GBP. The Daytona 6100.

Do you know about the GMTIIC TT? I went to roles hq London today to get a insurance valuation...they didn't know of any price rise. They did say though if there was one in the next month they'd send me another certificate valuation for free...

RRP for SS Daytona is already £6170.
Are you 100% sure that there will be an increase?
