Bitter sweet trade from Aquanaut to nautilus.

After been thinking about this trade for about a year. Now, I finally have done it.

5167 + batman + funds = 5712

My nature just never going to see myself trade two to one deal, but this one is really different. After have owned my 5167 for quite 3 yrs, it’s a nice watch but in the way also looked too simple and only can be for casual. Plus didn’t see myself love the batman at all (prefer Pepsi). Then I started to look to see who has the 5712, gotta tell you it ain’t easy to find one in good price. Eventually, found one guy in this forums who had some in hand and be able to face to face. The deal went through smoothly, I came out with 5712 and now never missed 5167 at all.

Sounds good. However, I've always found it advantageous to sell "outgoing" watches myself rather than trade. Usually through Chrono24 or eBay.

That’s really true. But with my rookie experience with shipping out the watch and get the money wired by buyer would be all messy since I’m not a well known seller hard for buyer will trust and wire me money before I shipped out the watch. Also nowadays, I think my buyer will end up be those sellers that try to flip my watch anyways.

That sounds like a hard decision but now that it’s done enjoy the 5712 in the best of health.

Very nice! The 5712 is one of the best watches out there in my opinion. 5167 is on the list but not as high as 5712!

Another good thing, before the trade happened I had chances to tried on several pieces of nautiluses, including the well known 5980. I ended up never like em, it’s a beautiful watch but the way it sits on my wrist feel to bulky. That’s mean 5712 is not the compromise for me, but its the one I prefer more if not for the rose gold version. Like most said, when you want to have just one I think steels band it still way to go.

All reasonable concerns. I have recently found eBay to work quite well as their fees are tolerable and their new "authentication" system makes the buyers much more comfortable. In any case, all the best with a great watch.

Great deal. Would always prefer the 5712 over any Aquanaut.
What's the overall price you paid based on your valuation of your watches if I may ask?

Is the 5167a in your own name? If you bought it new, i would never trade it away for a watch that has someone else's name in it. That's just me.

Great watch - complicated, robust, Patek (!), beautiful. I wonder if you will wear it as a 'one watch' for everything? I think I would - despite it's value. Lucky man. :)
