SD4K or a DSSD?

I like the DS4k, especially with the red lettering. I also like the DSSD, but only the JC dial. My wrist is 7 3/4”. I have a black sub, 16800 and it just seems a bit boring. Funny, I always wanted it, but I am starting to think it’s a bit small and every so slightly boring. Any positive advice?

I understand your dilemma. Both are great watches. I bought BOTH:

May I ask a question?

Is the bezel on the seadweller slightly thicker than the DSSD?

It certainly seems so in a few pictures I have seen.

I personally would get the SD4K because it would fit me best. Get the one that would fit you best! Not just physically but also something that you like how it looks on your wrist.

I’ve owned both and would get the DSSD no doubt.
I also found my previous sub boring like you, to be honest the SD43 is almost as boring, lots made of the red text but in reality that single line is tiny and doesn’t lift the watch appearance at all, add to that the awfully designed protruding case back which made it wobble and so uncomfortable to wear you’re left with one clear winner.
The DSSD with the JC dial isn’t boring and although much thicker and heavier it’s also much more comfortable to wear

FWIW, that an SD50 not SD4K as that was a 40mm watch without a cyclops and the last of the initial design line. The real SD4K is the only of the three mentioned that I'd wear as the others run too large for me. For a daily I'll stick with my YM Rhodium as being better looking, imho.

I have the 116600 because I’m not blessed with large wrists. If i had your wrists, I’d go DSSD.

Unquestionably, DSSD. Nothing boring about this watch.

SD43 and DSSD are both awesome but to me the SD43 is the better all around diver but the JC is a better looking watch. I switch between them frequently. You have to decide which you prefer.

The DSSD JC will never get boring. The dial, bezel and engineering are the most unique in the Rolex line.

Is the question about sd4k or sd50? Or do some of these people not know the difference??? At any rate the sd4k is the best of the bunch....

DSSD JC is the king diver of the model line. I found mine more comfortable than the SD43.
I think the DSSD JC is calling to you.

if you are only going to get one and you dont own a sub, I would say DS4K, otherwise all things equal go with the DSSD JC

The newfangled cyclopsed SD is not in consideration here.
The gentleman is asking about the 40mm 116600 SD4k, & the 44mm 116660/126660 DSSD James Cameron.

The two sea dwellers are so different it's hard to tell you what's going to work. You're just going to have to figure out which direction you like. Let's set the obvious stuff aside.

SD4k is very stealthy yet attractively detailed: protruding end links, slim lugs and crown protectors, satin dial, notably thick crystal, plus all the obvious attributes that tie it back to the traditional sea dweller line.
DSSD large loud and just as cool. A watch Rolex is clearly proud of given the unique publicity and commemoration of the Challenger dive, an actual sanctioned "Cameron" naming, and the dial oh boy the dial. Plus all the flagship performance technicalities that back up the fanfare. Also worth noting the 116660 has protruding end links (which I'm fond of).

These are two of the coolest models rolex makes in my opinion. Lots of reasons beyond the looks and sizing to admire either one. Good luck with the choice.

The JC is fun if you have the wrists for it and it seems like you do.

I was in the same boat as OP.
I also had a 16800 Sub and was tired of it.
Sold the Sub, and bought a DSSD.
No regrets at all. 7.75" wrist here as well.

I have only 6.6" wrist but when I tried on DSSD JC, I knew right away that it's the watch that I will enjoy it for a long long time.

I love the 126660 JC. It's very comfortable on my 6"/154mm wrist.

I find the DSSD just too tall and head heavy. Which makes it too uncomfortable. I'm sure some feel that it's very comfy but it's just not for me.
