Wempe NYC
Anyone have experience of getting on wait list without a relationship at Wempe NYC ? As most people I have been getting nowhere at other AD's. Would it be a waste of my time going to Wempe ?

Wempe operates on the up and up, so I would presume that you will eventually get the watch if they offer to add you to a list. But did they make such an offer? With no history I would assume they would not.

i got someone to put me down on a list for a blnr the summer before the jubilee version came out without any purchase history. i got a call a month after the jubilee version announcement asking if i wanted to be on the waiting list for that version, which i said yes to. I have not heard from them or visited them since. i have given up on getting one at retail.

This is a wonderful store, I love going in there and do every time we are in the city. But you’ve got to be a big spender, and keep in mind they are a Patek AD too, So they move some very expensive pieces through that store. It would be tough to get on their radar in my opinion., Although they are always very nice, pleasant and helpful to show me any watch I would like to see.

Not a chance. Impossible in NYC without history. Too many whales and money, you will never cut the list without purchase history unfortunately.

Agree. That's an issue in major metro areas; lots of disposable funds means lots of competition for the popular pieces.

Hundreds of customers in NYC buy their first piece (no purchase history) from WEMPE, Tourneau, or WOS. Not all customers are whale or repeat buyers. And WEMPE is the gold standard of Rolex ADs. |

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=757439 All pieces are hot!! Sub, Daytona, GMT, OP41, Sky, etc. People don't buy Lady DJs or Cellinis as their first piece. Their first piece can be a Sub, Root Beer, SD43, Bluesy, YM, Batman, OP41, etc. |

Have been there a couple of times, although I was not hunting for a Rolex. Greeted nicely at the door, a SA showed me several watches I was interested in, including a VC Overseas. I’ll probably go back and pick up one that I know is available.
Give them a try if it’s convenient, and good luck in your search.

I always try to visit if I'm in the area and always try to meet the same SA. Put my name down on a few pieces and once a few years back, got the call for the SD43 but had to turn it down as I didn't have the funds then. The SA left and I met with a new one and would call or drop by a few times. Then in September I got rewarded with a JC DSSD Added to my list only a few months prior. And then a month later, got a call for the Sub41
You just have to be patient and persistent. GL!

When the Pepsi was released I was told there would be no more waitlists...perhaps that has changed?
One day they will all be begging for our money again and I will create my own waitlist

I've been in Wempe a few times over the years and their service has always been first class. I suspect if you go in and tell them about yourself and your desired piece without a sense of entitlement, you just might get it.

I don't know about Wempe NYC, but I'm still waiting for a Pepsi from my local Wempe AD and it's been almost 3 years since I am on "the list". Small purchase history though.

The common theme of this thread is twofold
1) gotta spend as the case with many AD's not just Wempe 2) regardless of status, Wempe has and will treat me and everyone else with courtesy and respect....and that's saying something these days oh yeah and good luck to OP! |

I got a 126711CHNR from wempe with no history about a year after its release. I got a 126710BLNR from them about a year after my first purchase asking for that to be my next piece. When the Kermit was announced i called and was sold that one a month after release. Its possible. The best experience ive had with ADs in NYC by far.

Great AD. Two of my friends work there. They have a nice selection of SS models.

My Wempe Rolex SA is great. Check them out. If your expectations are realistic, they’ll work with you.

I asked to be put on the waitlist at Wempe NYC for a DJ41, fluted, oyster, black dial. Got the call 8 months later, but had already purchased one by then. I found them to be very professional and honest. I was offered a DJ41 smooth, oyster, rhodium dial the first time I walked in (Jan 2020, watch was not in the case).
On the other hand the stand alone Rolex boutique down the street on 5th Avenue (owned by Wempe), is by far the worst AD experience I’ve ever had. Last edited by md3113; 19 January 2021 at 02:50 AM.. Reason: Detail |

Wempe NYC
Fantastic AD. I had an extended conversation with them discussing my passion for watches and popped in a few times just to chat. We chatted about my collection and what direction I wanted to take it. I was able to get a white dialed Sky-Dweller in short order. They have become my go-to AD and I have recommended a number of my friends.

Wempe is by far the worse to get a watch from. If you don’t have money you can’t play ball.

Absolutely love the store. But, as in any big city, there are big spenders from all over the world. So, as a newbie, in an era of extremely limited inventory, the best bet is to find a small family owned AD in a smaller less urban area and develop a relationship.
