The 39mm Explorer was Perfect!!!

I know a lot of people are celebrating the second coming of the 36mm, but let's face it, the 39 was perfect for many people as well.

If you have a large wrist, the 36 is just too tiny.

It is a sad day.

I like the idea of the 36, what it represents, but prefer 39 on my wrist. I gave my wife my 36mm black dial OP for that reason.

Do Rolex give the design of the Exp to the work experience boy?

This isn’t the first time they completely dropped the ball with the Exp, with the Mk1 hands and solid numerals.

Unfortunately it will be a while till they realise these mistakes and rectify them like they did with the Mk2. Until such time I’ll likely go for the Omega Aqua Terra or the new speedy. Had my heart set on the Exp but I’m not paying the crazy grey prices.

Yes, go for an a Omega Aqua Terra. If you feel Omega made a mistake with any of their watches there is usually no need to worry as a new design of every watch will be along usually within a year or two

Aqua Terra? Yuck. And the new Speedy is wayyyy over priced for what it is. Cheaply finished, hyper-mass-produced watch. Why not just save your money?

I wanted the AT as a daily, then found the explorer so tried to get that.

I don’t want to save the money, I want to spend it on a watch

Couldn’t agree more.

Circa 11 year production run, 6 years for the Mk1 and 5 years for the MK2.

I’ll take that.

Bare in mind as well that a year of that MK2 production run was during Covid so overall I think there were probably a lot less MK2 produced than MK1.

I couldn't agree more! 39mm was perfect. I tried everything to get one from an AD for the past year and couldn't do it. I'm sure the secondary market has exploded in price on them now. Smh

I think 36mm is a perfect size for the Explorer. I only wish they'd made it full yellow gold instead of TT.

Never liked the 39mm model proportions, think was a great move to bring back the 36 mm. The 39mm size is then officially dead for now (following the discontinuation of the 39mm OP size last year)

Rolex finally listened to the masses. 36mm is still the true size of THE explorer.

I have to admit that my heart jumped just a little when I first saw it on the site, much like the way my heart started racing when I first tried on the 114270.

I'll always have a special relationship with the Explorer, because it looks and feels so perfect on the wrist.

Love it. As one of our long term members recently said, "Rolex's greatest achievement well in today's world making Rolex watches into to be thought of as little more than $$$$££££$$$€€€€££$$ object things, instead of watches bought to be worn and enjoyed".
