Rubber strap on a Root Beer?

Hey all,

My root beer finally came in on Saturday, very excited.

Oven that I’m not going into an office regularly, and when I do it’s always casual, I’m thinking throwing a rubber strap on it might dress it down a bit and let me wear it with jeans and t-shirts.

Have any of you RB owners put yours on strap, and any recommendations?

Thanks all,

Rick

I wish there was a brown rubber strap... thought I saw one before acquiring mine, but no luck finding one sense...

Like the rubber toned down look myself...

When I had my RB I put it on OF. At the time I thought it looked good, but seeing it now, I feel it doesn’t look right on a strap. Could just be me. Here’s a pic. You can decide for yourself!

Not rubber, but MN strap by Erica’s Originals. Hard to see, but there’s a brown stripe in the middle. I have an identical one with red stripe in the middle. I think the CHNR lends itself nicely to a strap, and preserves the PCL’s of the bracelet. As always, YMMV.

Congrats and nice collection! Can you post pictures of the Rootbeer on your wrist with besides the Pepsi? How do they compare in your opinion? Am waiting for an BLNR / Pepsi from my AD but the Rootbeer is growing on me.

Perhaps, try the Everest strap and see if you like it. Much better option that the rubber strap on this GMT.

Hi Rick… even with the two-tone bracelet I find that the CHNR still wears well with jeans and t-shirt just fine. I have worn it from time to time with my 97200, brushed stainless steel Submariner bracelet. While no where near as beautiful as the two-tone bracelet, I find that the brushed bracelet provides a nice sporty alternative look. Also nice option if I’m planning activity that I worry might scratch the gold on the original bracelet. In the end, nothing come close to the gold TT though. Absolutely gorgeous.

This actually looks outstanding. I never thought of this. I’m going to try it out.

Not sure how practical, but this is the best non-bracelet look imho

The watch is stunning! Should ONLY be worn on bracelet

congratulations on your latest acquisition. been using mine almost daily for two years already, has not left the bracelet. the pink hue of the center link of the bracelet blends very well with my skin tone ( asian ) ....wear the watch! don't let it wear you! the battle scars will be sweeter after so many years of use...and the look of a two tone watch worn by a guy in jeans or shorts and flip flops speaks volumes of how comfortable you are using a two tone watch

This actually looks awesome. I was thinking black, but the gray presents less contrast and looks more cohesive.

Thanks for screwing up my plan...

From pictures above, it seems like the Rootbeer looks best with bracelet but it's still OK with leather strap.

I shudder. Bracelet adds to the beauty of the CHNR. Completes it. Why destroy one of the greatest Rolex models with an offbrand bracelet? Wear the watch! In all situations.

I get it, the bracelet takes the detail and design of the watch and amplifies it, no question.

And I agree that this is one of the greatest Rolex models. It’s a showstopper.

That being said, part of the fun of the hobby is finding new looks and ways to use the piece, and for me, putting it on rubber would let me even wear it to Home Depot.

And if it looks ghastly, it’s only $250 to scratch the itch.

I tried the full gold version on last week at my AD and, in my opinion, even that would go well dressed up or down since it is still on the sporty side. I don't see why it can't go well with jeans and a t-shirt as it sits.

I plan to wear mine on the bracelet more often than not. However, until I am in the office full time and dressing more formally, I plan to wear it on the Rubber B quite a bit. No doubt the watch shines on the bracelet but I think it looks good on rubber. I would have preferred an Oysterflex rather than an off brand strap but that was not an option.

It is my first two-tone watch so it will take me a bit to get used to the bling. I breaking myself into the look.

FWIW, the wife initially hated the rubber strap but she said it’s growing on her. She loves the bracelet and the bling.

I've always loved the Chnr but not the two tone bracelet. This works for me, I think it looks great on a black rubber and thought about it before but of course the price is too big to buy it and not enjoy the bracelet as well.
