NYC Watch Shopping
Hello denizens of TRF! Heading to NYC this weekend and I was hoping to get a couple recommendations for favorite watch shops. I will probably hit WOS and Wempe. Any other worthwhile places you can think of? Thanks!

Tourneau will likely be around there as well. I assume you will be on or near 5th ave so you will see watches by the boatload whether it’s boutiques or grey sellers. I’ll be there in a few months and the RM boutique will definitely be on my list, as well as AP

Bought my Bluesy and wife’s DJ at Tourneau and had a fantastic experience (they get shit on a lot on this forum though).

For fun, go to Diamond District - 47th St. You will see everything there!

+2 You might as well see what all the watches look like in real life instead of lusting over internet photos.

FYI - not everyone is sketchy on 47th St. But you need to know what you’re doing. Have bought a number of watches and pieces of jewelry there. Had a custom designed engagement ring done by a dealer for a much better price than you’d find through a “typical” store front. But again, need to know what you’re doing. |

agree with this. 47th street isn't sketchy just have to know what you are doing and how to say "no." For the OP on Madison/5th ave. between 53rd and 58th is 2 Tournea boutiques, Omega, IWC, Blancpain, Breitling, Wempe and Wempe Rolex. There are probably more but that is what i know off hand. |

Diamond District, WEMPE, and Cellini. Also, Saks, Macy’s, and Tiffany & Co.
Some nice boutiques too: Omega, Breguet, Blancpain, RM, AP. |

I agree Wempe has a beautiful store and some great brands. If you aren’t looking for anything hard-to-find, it’s definitely worth a stop. For those who live in NYC, I feel like Wempe is the “worst” in the sense that it seems to cater to the richest of the rich, so there seems to be just zero chance of establishing a meaningful relationship that would ever result in an even moderately “hot” watch. Just my .02. But the Wempe employees are indeed very nice and professional.

If you do UES, I would also stop by the FP Journe boutique. It’s worth a visit even if you’re just window shopping. VC, Panerai, JLC and Lange are all nearby too. |

It can be done! And 47 Street is closed from Friday afternoon until Sunday due to religious observances. |

Walk 47th street and do window shopping. Don't feel like you have to do or say anything besides smiling and shaking your head no. They'll move on quickly...
Then go up 5th Ave to Wempe, Rolex, Tourneau, and all the boutiques along the way (it's only 10 blocks total so nothing crazy). Nice way to kill a few hours. Then WOS if you find yourself in Soho or Hudson yards. Soho is a cooler area IMO so I'd prefer that. |

Just returned from NYC. All Rolex ADs empty cases, like everywhere. 47th street will have dozens of vendors selling every Rolex reference at top grey prices. Most closed Saturdays.
I’d journey to 57th and visit AP and then to FP Journe. |

Everything I'm about to say is on the Upper East side between about 53rd St (south) and 68th St. (north), mostly on or just off Madison Ave and 5th Ave.
Aaron Faber, which is less than 2 blocks from Wempe, often has a wide variety of cool preowned pieces, some vintage. Always interesting eye candy there. Cellini at 56th and Park carries a ton of really interesting independent brands and will also have brands you know. If you want custom straps, visit Jean Rousseau's new location on 54th Street, also about 2 blocks from Wempe, and ask to see the skins. Strap browsing can be just as interesting as watch browsing! Others in this thread have mentioned all the boutiques in that area. The northernmost boutique would probably be Lange at 68th Street (on Madison). Just south of that, but also in the 60's on Madison, are FPJ (which won't have much for you to see), Chopard (several cool pieces), JLC, and others. Also, if you like chocolate while you're in that area, visit Laderach on Lexington Ave. and 58th St. I'll sometimes buy a few small pieces of their delicious chocolate bark (different flavors) and munch on that while I'm walking around. Then, when it's 4am and I'm wondering why I can't fall asleep, I'll remember that I did that. |

Start on Madison in the upper 60s and walk south and you'll hit a few boutiques like ALS, VC, JLC. You'll also pass Tourneau on Madison. When you hit 57th, make a quick left and between Madison and Park, the AP boutique is there. After you visit that, turn around and head west along 57th to 5th ave, make a left, and head down where you will find Wempe (across the street), and the Omega and Rolex (also owned by Wempe) boutiques further down. You can also head back to Madison after that and you'll find the IWC boutique as well. Cellini is also nearby on Park.
