Simplifying collection

Popped into Ad and tried in the new date just 36 stainless steel with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet and must say I was massively impressed! Having sold of my other watches I’m left with just the sd4k 116600 and was contemplating selling it to fund the purchase and have spare cash. I’m feeling the 36 mm size and think I am now at a point where I would enjoy the smaller more comfortable fit and feel of the date just after years of wearing hefty sports models and also feel a little sports model fatigue now. Would this be a big mistake as everyone keeps telling me value wise to keep the sd but I can’t stand being swayed by potential values of the future! Would I regret this decision?

DJ 36 is a killer watch. I considered for a long time getting the silver stick dial myself.
Who cares about what other people say ? Speculate about future prices ? lol

Life isn't long. Go buy that Rolex.

I know, the only thing that made me stop
And think was the ad salesman was one of the people who told me not to sell my sd4k! I was fully set on making the purchase !

Dude. Do NOT sell the 116600.

It is not replacable with anything in the current lineup.

100% regret.

I have one 36mm watch, but it's 18kt so that'd be a no-go as an only watch for me. However, a SS 36 DJ is a great all arounder. My only tough choice would be bezel type and dial color.

Oh yeah, and I could never sell a 40mm Sea Dweller. Ever.

In many ways, I feel like downsizing as well. When I'm working around the house or in the garage, I usually always just have my trusty Tudor on with a rubber strap. But then again, I've been at home for over a year.

It’s got to be fluted bezel and silver or white dial for pure versatility

I like the way you think. White looks a little more special to my eyes, but I wouldn't say no to the right silver dial.

Do not dismiss blue as very versatile as well.
I was all set on silver for the reason you mentioned and found it a bit blend in the flesh. So I went with blue and I’m actually quite surprised how versatile it is (fluted on oyster).

Simplifying collection

I was in the same boat; I felt sports-watch fatigue. I sold my 6 digit sub and 42mm Exp 2 and purchased a DJ 36mm SS w/ a blue dial. I love it so much more than either of the watches I sold. I still own an Exp 39mm, but I never want to wear it; just feels too big. Only time will tell if I made the right decisions, but currently I feel that I never want to go back to bigger watches. Having a 6.8 inch has a lot to do with it, but I’ve never seen a 36mm look bad on anyone.
A 116600 is a special ref. I would suggest adding a 36mm and waiting a few months before you decide to sell your SD4K or not. That’s what Im doing with my Exp. But as it stands now, I plan on selling it.

Add the 36mm DJ… makes for a diverse duo and that’s the best sports watch (imho). After time if you truly don’t wear the sea dweller, then sell it… I would regret flipping that watch.

I wore 39 mm to 40 mm watches almost all my adult life. I find the 36 mm datejust to be extremely comfortable and really hits the sweet spot for my 17 cm wrist.

I think it’s a great move. I wouldn’t necessarily sell the 116600 unless you need to in order to buy the DJ.

and that’s the thing it’s becoming increasingly difficult to do so nowadays with the ever increasing price year on year!

A modern 36mm would not work for me, however I like the DJ design.

DJ36 is a great choice. If it's not financially prohibitive, I would add the DJ36 and wait some time before deciding whether to sell the SD

The DJ is a great piece, and the combos you like are great! It’s all personal, and if you’ll get more enjoyment from the DJ, go for it!
Myself, I’d pick the sd4k as a one and only in that scenario every time. It just fits my lifestyle better. No wrong answer...just personal preference. Good luck!
