Newbie - just ordered a DD - 8 month leadtime!

Hello - long time lingerer, first time poster. In anticipation of an upcoming company service award, today I placed an order for a new 36mm Day Date in 18k gold case and bracelet with the champagne dial and index hour markers. I'm being told there is up to an 8 month lead time from the factory but have my fingers crossed to get delivery before year end. We'll see. I was given a choice between that watch, or various (equivalent value) combinations of his and hers Rolex watches including the Submariner in blue or black face with gold on stainless braclet. I was very tempted to go with the Submariner in the theory that it's more of a daily wearable but in the end decided on the DD mainly for tradition. I'm enjoying reading the forum and look forward to properly joining the "family". My flashiest watch to date is a Meistersinger Perigraph. Just love the styling of that watch.

Welcome to the forum.

The Meistersinger Perigraph is a great watch... I love the "Hand". great concept and nice to look at.

I reckon you wont be waiting the 8 months you were warned about, I think itll probably be a lot less.

Good luck with the wait though. Fabulous watch you have chosen.

Congrats. Doesn’t get much better than a classic Day Date! I’d make the same choice.

Nice!! Where are you working to get such a great watch??

I retired from the State of Texas Government 17 months ago
& received an engraved Chrystal paperweight, a Texas Flag & letter from the Governor & 1st Lady...LOL!! OH, & a gift certificate to Ruths Chris.

I did buy myself a yellow gold Day Date 36.
