Thoughts on 116503

Went to AD to try on a few pieces they had for exhibition. I didn’t think I would
like a TT Daytona, but the piece is stunning. Both the white and black dial are gorgeous with yellow gold. I am partial towards the black dial. Anyone else NOT have this watch on the radar, then you saw it?

I have one and I love it.

Got a tt sub to pair with it.

It’s rear for golf clubs, lounging, dinners events etc.

I know what you mean. I tried on the blue dial (now discontinued unfortunately) several years ago and almost bought it on the spot. That was back in the days when there were actual watches for sale at the AD, mind you. LOL

The watch haunted me until I finally gave in and bought it eventually. No matter what the hive mind says about the steel Daytona, there will never be another dial as mesmerizing, IMO.

Oh yes. I was on the list for a white 116500 for years and it finally came in. Took it home and it was a complete let down, the watch and the ceramic did nothing for me and still doesn't, it just didn't match the hype. Went back next day to AD, tried on a white 503 for the first time and instantly loved it. Asked AD if he would take the 500 back and put that money toward the 503 and his jaw just about hit the ground. Have had the 503 ever since and still love it, it's a fairly uncommon watch. Not a fan of ceramic on a daytona.

Lol! I like the 503 better too but the 500 has place in the collection. Along with PM Daytona too.

Ok see I am not crazy! I have a blusey, and said to myself I won’t ever get another TT. But I like the 503 over 500. I prefer SS.

I have had the TT Daytona on my list for a while now, but only the champagne dial version. Did not care for the white or black dial versions....THEN, I tried on the white dial version as an exhibition piece and it became my favorite TT dial version. I still like the champagne too, but I do not have any interest in the black dial TT.

I told my AD I'd buy either the white or champagne dial TT version if offered.

It's crazy there is a waitlist for TT Daytonas now when just a few years ago they were discounted pieces at the AD. lol

I never tried on the champagne version. Now I too am intrigued by it. Yea It was weird adding a TT to my registry. Having bought a Rootbeer from the case, a 41mm Blusey just by asking...Adding a TT is weird.

The TT Daytona confuses me. I can’t decide if I like it or not.

I really like the TT white dial and considered buying it for quite a while before my 116500 came in. I think it looks great. Not a huge fan of the black dial.

I have owned the white and traded it for a SS black dial. Found the white dial TT too formal looking. I prefer the TT in black. It's quite stunning.

Hi Everyone, New to the Forum.

LOVE my TT Daytona.

I purchased it new from an AD in Amsterdam (I'm from NY) while on a business trip back in 2005. I walked in just looking. I had been wanting to buy a "good" watch and loved the Daytona but had never found one available. I was talking to the sales rep and looking at other makers/models. I happened to mention that I would love to own a Daytona one day. He excused himself for a minute and returned with a two-tone/White face, a yellow gold/gold face, and a platinum. The platinum was out of the question. I'm not really a yellow gold person and I never thought about the two-tone. I really didn't love the way the white face looked. When I told him this he said "well we can change the face"...??? I had no idea this was an option. He brought out the Daytona faces they had available and I fell in love with the way the Slate/Grey face looked with the two-tone. 45 minutes later, they replaced the face and added a link. I walked out with my Rolex Daytona and have loved it ever since.

Great history! Did your ppwk reflect new dial?

Not sure what you mean? I have all of the original paperwork from when I got the watch, Where does it show anything about the dial?

Actually ignore what I said, I spoke too soon without thinking..I was thinking of my Subs and the last two letters indicate bezel and technically not dial.

The 116523 was my first luxury watch, I got it new from the AD in 2004 and it is still in my collection to this day... I wore this watch in many formal personal occasions and I don't think I will ever let go of..

I also like the SS white face and I would like to buy one at retail but my chances are less than Zero
