Polishing question?

I am wondering if a cap cod cloth is safe on the SS models. I have been a Rolex guy for years, I know, don't hate me, and I have always stayed away from doing any kind of self polishing. I would just leave it to my local AD who had the proper machines. I am also interested in the ti models, specifically the 176, I love that watch. Now I am wondering if I scratch it up, is it easy to get the original finish back, are there special cloths for the ti? I hear the ti is a little softer and scratches a little easier, but the look is killer. Thanks for the feedback, sorry for the silly questions.

Trevor, I have used a Cape Cod on my 177 (176's brother) it actually did a great job. I go easy on it and clean it up. I have had limited issues at all with scratching on my 176 and I have worn it quite a bit.

Also, just like Rolex the service center makes it look brand new.

i have had 2 packets of this capecod cloth over a year... have read about them used on watches. Some said they do wonders,some said it will dull the polished surface. I'm no handyman,so silly me to always like visiting the hardware store buying this and that and ended up not using any... except my latest purchased a vernier caliper. My advice is that leave them to the next servicing at Richemont SC...let the pros do it!

Yes,Cape Cod leaves ss looking dull ............... until you wiped ot off !!! So no worries Cape Cod works very well.

Cape Cod and Wenol Red works great.I prefer Wenol Red.With fine hairlines I trust myself more than the "pro's".If any deeper bangs I would refer it to them.Thats why I love polished cases ...easy to maintain like new.

i have to say i always leave it to the pro's to be honest, i have been polishing some items not my watches and it seems i S#ck with applying the same pressure all over and i get a diff finish on some places, so i stay away from doing my watches.

I am not really a fan of polishing watches but when I went to my local Pam AD, I was looking at a 176 and I was asking about the Ti, the lady said, "Just don't drop it". Really freaked me out, I think SS might be the way to go for me. It just got me thinking, can the ti be repaired easily.

the last time when i was at the RSC shaking up my sub to tick,the lady said this to me..."boy! don't shake your Rolex like that!!" I know where she's coming from...in fact,we can't drop any of our watches,not even a quartz.

For all the "scared,I am not a pro ones" .... I assure you a bit of Wenol Red or Cape Cod polishes nicely.You will not destroy your polished surface on your PAM !! My 111 and 104 takes the beating of daily life at work and they both look very much like new.Now and then a bit of Wenol to fine hairlines and it sparkles like new.Deep scratches and dents,best left to Vendome.

Stay away from any brushed areas.Thats has to be done by Vendome.

Wenol also works extremely well on the rosegold polished PAMs

I nice soft cloth also needed.I use a very nice microfibre material that I bought at a motor show a few months ago.
