1984 Thunderbird bezel question
I just inherited a 1984 oyster date just thunderbird. But the bezel on it doesn’t rotate at all which I find odd. Does anyone know if that was normal for the model then? You always worry about fakes.

Probably just dirty. Years of grime gets in under the bezel and basically makes them immovable. A service will fix the bezel and determine authenticity.

The Thunderbird is a DJ36 Turn-O-Graph, and all Turn-O-Graphs had rotating bezels. @kegan is right; it probably has collected dirt and grime over the years and likely just needs removing the bezel and performing a good cleaning.

I'd guess same as above. As long as there have been Rolexes, there have been fakes, but that would be a pretty good one by 1980s standards, and back then I doubt the Thunderbird was popular enough to be ripped off too frequently.

Warm water ( almost hot), Dawn dish soap and a toothbrush will get it turning again.

. Wow! Thank you so much. I just did it and it’s now moving perfectly! It had been my dads pride and joy. I was so worried that it was a fake even though everything else checked out.

It probably hasn't be serviced in many years. Spend a few hundred and get it done, you'll be glad you did. Send to Rolex or be darn sure if you go to an independent.

It should turn, probably needs a cleaning.
