Playing drums with Rolex

I played a hour and a half set this past Saturday night. While playing the drums I wore my Rolex Air-King 116900. No problems at all. I didn't expect any, however, I often see posts asking if it is alright to wear my Rolex in a certain situation. I saw this somewhere on here..."If you can take it your Rolex can take it.". That says it all. Great watch!

I agree, great watch. When mines on my wrist it does all I do, I dont 'baby' it, if I get mudy and wet falling off my mountain bike, it's with me, if I go swimming it gets wet, if we're skiing it gets lost on the mountain with me!

That is the way to do it. I never take it off. I wear on a Nato. My Air-King 14000(recently serviced) is an absolute work horse. Don't have to baby it at all. From 1993. 3000 caliber works great.

A Rolex is designed and meant to be used. Glad you are using and enjoying its reliability.

My vintage 1950s air king is my go to watch for drumming. Usually several hour jam sessions with my band and lengthy practice sessions in my studio…

Great looking kit - I have curly maple DW's with the same finish as yours.

I always gig with a watch on - 36mm DJ has worked great because of it's small size and light weight.

Awesome kit, right? The sound is unique. The 36 DJ sounds about right. I wear the Air-King for the same reason! Good drumming to you!!!

Its a Nakamichi System one I use for drumming karaoke to learn new songs.

Great responses. When I put a pic on, when formatted, makes it too big. Any ideas? Anyway I play surf punky Dick Dale/Ventures kinda deal on a Pearl Forum Red Wine four piece. 18" bass, 12" tom, 14" floor tom, 14"Slingerland snare(about mid 70s). 14" hi-hats, 2, 18" crash/ride. One vintage with rivets. The other is much newer. All Zildjian. And a cowbell. More cowbell!!

Played for 30 years (since I was 8!) but I do tend to take off my watch.

Can't see any harm in playing wearing a watch. But my crowns always dig into my wrist which is why I swapped to my right hand despite being right handed.

I tend to just take it off these days.

It's not saying much but I think I destroyed a Breitling Navitimer years ago by playing drums with it on...

Given it’s a free spring mvt you’ll probably be okay. With some none free sprung mvt the balance spring can bounce out of the curb pins when enough vigorous pounding is received.. Usually for something extreme like that to happen you’d have to be boxing with it.

I have two. A basic probably from a school music room, chrome 8 lug. Sounds good but....the other is the 10 lug. Very heavy. Has the three lines going around the center. I ran the serial, I forget exactly but I think mid 70s. Niles, Il. Black oval badge.
