I had a '85 Delta 88 and when I gave it away it had 268,000 plus miles on the 305 c.i. motor. Man, it was a tank. On a serious note, I have been trying to figure out a good safe car to buy for her. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I got a brand new Accord sedan when I turned 16. Wrecked it a couple times and never hurt a soul.

As for a vehicular suggestion, I wouldnt want any loved one of mine to be in anything but a 7 series BMW, or a Landrover/Range rover. They both saved me from the lunacy of others, i only drive a ram now, because i cant afford a Rangy!

Send her a Happy B day.
16, wow, my daughter has 3 weeks to go until her big day.
She is eyeing up the Z4 for her car.
No way am I letting her near my 135i until she gets some schooling & many hours behind the wheel.

We used to have a Vulva X90 T6 AWD until the family outgrew it. Oh yea, part of my post is the male pig in me.

I don't get the reference to the male pig part. I always thought the Swedish car manufacturer was Vulva? I had a 440...

Happy birthday to your daughter! That's a big one. I say buy her a Ford Escort station wagon. That was my first car. You really have to work hard to not resent your parents for that one.

Hi Jim's Bits,
Wish Ashley a Happy Birthday from the Great White North. If you're looking at a vehicle for her, I would suggest something mid-size for safety too. And have her start off with a standard.

Funny you would mention that my friend, as the wife wants a GL320 BlueTec and since the R500 has little trade in value......you have me thinking.

Well, my first car was a Saab 900. It saved my life after I was sandwiched in the middle of a freeway. Walked away without a scratch but the car was a writeoff

Joe here are the safety ratings carried out in the EU for cars just because a car looks like a tank does not mean its safe in a crash as I'm sure you know
