Yea he has a partnership w/ Tiffany. Not a surprise here. He probably got it free, while someone out there paid 6.5 million.

Are we sure he wasn't the person who bid for it at Phillips? I could see him wanting to do it for the tax write off alone...

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised one if he was gifted one, paid retail, or dropped millions. |

Off the top of my head, I can recall him mentioning AP, Rolex, and Hublot in lyrics, but not Patek. Perhaps this was their move.
Or just part of J and B's new relationship with Tiffany. "We'll pay you $5mil...cleverly disguised as a $56k watch." PS - queue the "how is this a rolex topic" comments... |

Disappointing, but not surprising. Money does not equate to taste. Watch looks great though.

I heard JM bought his green 5711 secondary lol maybe it’s a lie. I trust the source though. Jay was likely given this. His influence is more valuable and make no mistake Jay Z and Beyonce would not be working for Tiffany for 5M. It’s likely a much much larger deal. Jay Z has been collecting for some 20 Years. He has a lot of piece uniques from the likes of RM, AP and has been spotted in the Patek 6300 years ago. I’d bet my house they politely asked him to have a photo posted in it as a favor for giving him this watch.

I’m sure he can afford it. Touring with the Dead I’m sure has made him even more super rich. I’m sure Jay has a serious collection but what JM showed on his second Talking Watches was pretty sick and I’m quite certain he has quite a few more. Seriously doubt that was his entire collection but the 2 original Rainbows was a mic drop of all mic drops. Haven’t seen any others anywhere then of course he has the modern Rainbows. Maybe some of the money I spent on his signature Fender and PRS Silver Sky went to his watch collection

I’m a big JM fan both musically and of his absurdly good vintage collection. I just meant Jay Z is a billionaire and his and beyonces name behind your brand isn’t really comparable to John Mayer. Even though he’s awesome and was way ahead of the game on vintage gemset Rolex etc and I’d kill for his custom 5004. Jay z collects 7 figure pieces and part of me believes these brands don’t charge lol

Absolutely. I agree with your sentiments. Jay and JM are both equally awesome musically and with their watch collections but they aren’t on the same level. Jay is on a whole other planet. And I’m sure you’re also right, Jay probably gets his fair share for free. When you look at it Jay is posting pics of his Tiffany and John is announcing a new G Shock. Yes not on the same level

Jay Z is a boss. No doubt he was one of the first to get it.
He controls a massive empire that spans far and wide to industries not related to music. No doubt Patek/Tiffany will gain from him wearing this piece. |

I wish they’d give one to Willy Nelson …
Then again, it’s probably not his style |
