216570 photo shoot!

Found my explorer 2 on my wrist at work had to have some fun. True meaning of a tool watch.

Awesome watch! I wore mine today as well. No pics. I go back and forth about the size of the dial as I'm more of a 40mm person, though once I wear it a few days, I get taken by the white dial with orange bits. I also love the way the lugs and bracelet flow.

I love the size of the dial. I feel being bigger than most watches the matrix of the design seals the deal for me. It’s so different it stands out. Here’s a pic of my Shepard sneaking it of my wrist for some time of his own.

Great photos, DD58! I love to see people actually wearing their sports Rolexes as they were made to be, in whatever situation, not stuffing them into a safe and worrying about "investment" value and scratches! But are you really sure it's safe to drive a fork-lift wearing an Explorer...?!

It’s tough the photo we not in any kind of order. More of what I was doing at the time.

I manage a cnc shop. I started as a floor sweeper. Learned the machine and programming moved into modeling and setup then moved around internally. It took 16 years. It’s been one hell of a journey. This is actually what the Rolex was for. It was my gift to my self for making it to this new position in going to be stepping into in the next few months. It’s only fair to show the Rolex why it lives in my wrist lol.

We were exploring the warehouse. Had to put the old girl out of service.

Boy do my fingers know that. It was only 6061 aluminum. Nothing 904l can’t handle. It’s funny because I just got done running a 904 job. It’s a different animal than 300 series ss.

Many years ago at my job I used a Cat 966 rubber tire loader to tear into a mountain of steel turnings then loading it into open top trailers. Never ending battle…

That’s a lot of chip! Hahaha I wish it was that way. Wouldn’t mind running a loader.

From your direct experience, in what ways is 316 steel different from 904 steel? Hardness, workability, etc. BTW, love your photos. Thanks.

So 316 and 316l are different I haven’t machine 316l which has less carbon than 316ss. 316ss is tough. It’s gummy and he’s a lot of chromium and molybdenum that make it’s tough on tools. Have to use carb em coating with variable flute geometry to ward of chatter.
Moving to 904l you have to change you speeds and feed by about 20%. It’s not that drastic but it’s something you have to watch your tool life and get frequently change tools out.
Stainless isn’t hard. There only certain stainless you can harden 440c to be one that we machine then heat treat.
I know I’m making it sound easy and to take a chuck of either material home and try and drill it in a drill press you will smoke every drill you have. Once you figure out your chip loads it’s not a hassle.

Thanks a lot and great question!!
