Which should be your first rolex or "Rolex Datejust 36 palm dial"
Hey guys
I am about to get my very first rolex by the end of the year (if the AD is right). It is going to be a 36mm datejust with palm dial, oyster bracelet and smooth bezel. I absolutely love the dial as it is something that has never been produced before and stands out amongst all the other DJ models. It seems to be a controversial watch (as many discussions in forums suggest) and I've read the sentence "it is a nice watch but not something to buy as a first rolex" many times. What is your take on this one? What should be your first rolex if not the one you desire the most? |

Many people have different “first Rolex” and therefore you should go for it. I like that watch very much

I have never subscribed to the theory of a particular model being a good or bad "first" Rolex. If it sings to you then get it and enjoy it. My first Rolex was a 36mm DJ and I never had a single regret.

Personally I would want a Submariner but that is now impossible.

If you like it, it is the ideal first Rolex.

Considering you use the world "First" I think it can be whatever you want. If you were to say "Only" then you may get different answers. I personally like this dial configuration just couldn't be my only Rolex and I only say this because it wouldn't suit every style situation for me. If you love it go for it.

I think your 1st Rolex should be one you really like.....so if you really like that one, then that one should be it.
I learned a long time ago to get what I like, & not what the masses think. The only one who has to really like it is you!! |

I would buy what I wanted. However for my wrist 36mm is too email so I would go for a 41mm. Or get a sub. In the end, the biggest thing I’ve learned is to go with exactly what I want and not compromise. It’s my money and I’ve been happier when I’ve stuck to this policy.

If that’s what you want, then get it. Definitely don’t compromise and get something just because it’s a Rolex.
I remember back in 2017, I could have walked out with a variety of different Rolex models. I really wanted a Submariner and thank goodness I waited. Only took a couple months to get what I really wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My first Rolex watch is a fairly unpopular one (YM pt dial). Never had a problem with that, it's the one I wanted.

Have you seen it in real life? The dial is much darker than the pictures show.
