Can watch cushion stretch TT Oyster bracelet?

Hi,
I received as a gift a Wolf Design watch winder for my new TT Sub and thanks to people on this board was able to figure out how to put watch so that it doesn't fall out when winder does its thing. The trick consist of picking next size of a foam filled cushion. Cushion is then compressed and watch, with a clasp closed, slips over it at which point cushion is let to expand. Extra height of the cushion expands enough to the sides to allow for secure fit in the winder's socket when rotated.

But of course now I'm worried about stretching the sensitive TT Oyster bracelet on my "tool" watch :(

Its not a stupid question. I have small wrists and all the cushions end up being very tight and that worries me. I have an Orbita winder and I ordered smaller cushions AT THE SUGGESTION of the orbita rep. When my Tag was my only nice watch, I wanted to store it on the OEM cushion and was worried about strap stretch so I took some of the stuffing out of the cushion!

I agree with you Enzo. I don't think the tight pillows will harm the oyster bracelet but I have put some smaller bracelets on my winders and found the clasps are hard to clip on.
I would modify the cushions or make some that are the correct size.

I put a jubilee bracelet older model DJ on my orbita and it did stretch out the clasp. It wouldn't close properly afterward, until I re-bent the metal blade to reshape the clasp...

so I've been avoiding putting the yachtmaster on the orbita for this reason.

Call orbita. They have smaller cushions now that you can get. They are awesome and fit in the winder easier too.

If I had a SS bracelet on my Sub I wouldn't even ask this question. But it being a TT with hollow gold link it kind of irked me that cushion will exert constant pressure on the band through the years that I will have it in the winder. There is in fact a smaller cushion, but Wolf winders are actually designed on relying on the friction of the larger cushion squished by the bracelet to expand inside the rotator cup and keep in in place. Keep in mind that Wolf Desings rotators keep the watch at almost vertical position, whereas Orbita have them at more or less horizontal position. Still waiting on opinion of TT Sub owners (any TT Oyster owner really).

I don't think the bracelets will stretch by the static distraction of a watch pillow. I think it is the repetitive stress grinding away at the pins that will do it over time. I guess the older the watch, the more this would be an issue.

It's not very likely. I've worn my TT Sub for 15 years and it's been though some stuff and the bracelet is not stretched. The TT Oysters are tougher than they look. I sometimes run mine on a winder with an expansion cushion and I don't see any problem. You'll get to the point where you don't baby it - it just takes time.

i was worried about the same thing, so i bought a velcro strap from the hardware store to fit my bracelet size. works great

Wow Moodz, that is pretty nifty idea, I got to try that. Does the bracelet touch the rotating cup though? I think on mine I use the middle cushion, and with watch fitted, bracelet barely clears the cup, so I wonder how it will do with extra piece of Velcro under it. I've to say though that I wish I did a little more research and maybe I would've gotten Orbita since it doesn't rely on expanding cushion design.

Hmm. Just ordered a Brookstone winder. I have 6.5" wrists. Hope the watch fits without stretching the bracelet.
