Meal Replacement Shakes - Recommendations?

Sometimes I am pressed for time and can't squeeze in a meal breakfast/lunch.... There is always time for dinner! So for those times that I can't eat breakfast/lunch I would like a meal replacement shake.

Does anyone have any recommendations on meal replacement shakes?

I really like LABRADA's Lean Body. They have no sugar, 40g of protein and a ton of other vitamins and minerals.

If you can prepare a meal replacement drink you can prepare meals in advance that can be easily carried with you. Depending on these shakes for anything other than helping to fill in a 5 or 6 meal a day plan is not a great idea.

No health issues, just want to fill the gaps between meals for days that I am short on time.

Costco has some good shakes. They're only around 200 calories though--so not a true meal replacement. Generally speaking the higher the price the less sugar, better tasting shake.

Many years ago I used Met-Rx blended with ice and a banana....... tasted great and plenty of protein for working out/physical activity.

EAS for me. However, I have never used them as a meal replacement without strenuous exercise. I was actively body building and consuming three per day, along with my three squares per day and packed on plenty of muscle.

EAS Myoplex fan here as well, Bill Phillips was a genius with that company in the late '90's

I second the EAS protein shakes they are the best tasting IMHO on the market. get the 42 pack variety, you can mix them with water or milk and taste great either way.

Frank I recommend that you not replace meals with shakes but instead add protein shakes to your daily diet. If you can prepare your meals the night before a busy day and eat three or four small meals plus a protein shake or two if you are working out. Replacing meals with shakes is a bad habit to get into just ask Oprah.

I'd say no shakes.

Instead, buy some natural snacks like raw almonds, or almonds mixed with dried cranberries, etc...

Trader Joe's sells stuff like this, pre-portioned in the right amount. Sold in bags of 10. Add a piece of fruit, and you're good to go.

Unless you're working out a ton, you probably don't need the extra protein of a shake.

x2 I'm a big fan of organic dried mangos when I'm on the road. Those and some granola with raw almonds keep me going almost a full 13 hour day while I'm tooling around FL.

Well he asked for shake ideas, but I agree that this is the best approach for a potential missed meal scenario. Bottom line for me is that if I don't keep a couple yogurts / apples / bananas / nuts at work I falter and eat some of the candy that is kept under my nose all day.

I used to take a "Soylent Green" approach to eating with shakes and bars, but I gone back to eating FOOD.

Yeah, it's much better for you, and generally a ton cheaper. For the price of one drink from Smoothie King, I can buy 10 small 210kcal bags of "Just a Handful" of almonds, cashews, and dried cranberries from Trader Joe's.
