Montblanc Question

Hi there,

Have been a watch collector for many years.

Have toyed with the idea of buying a good quality pen a few times over the years, but they aren’t my bag, despite using one throughout each day.

I intend on buying a Meisterstuck Platinum Coated Ballpoint Pen.

Question i have is, what size should i get?

I’m sure the advice will be to try them in store, but i already know most sizes will be fine for me.

If someone asked me the what the general sweet-spot for watch sizes would be, i’d say 40mm (despite smaller, and larger working fine for me).

Essentially, I’m asking what that universal size is for the Meisterstuck line?

Would appreciate the suggestions. I’m guessing most responses would be similar…

I think that I would probably tend towards the Midsize or Le Grand, but, having said that, for me, the weight of the pen is more important than anything else. I like a very heavy, substantial pen; and, many Montblanc pens just don't work for me. I have to make sure that I try them and am comfortable with the weight.

The Legrand is a safe bet, simply cannot go wrong with that advice (do not go smaller than Legrand, though!).

My recommendation is to go for the full-size 149 flagship. Well proportioned and balanced, despite the size. I had two Legrands and two smaller classiques before giving the full sized 149 a shot. For years, I had incorrectly assumed it was too large. I was wrong.

Fyi, the ball point, which is the variation i intend on getting, doesn’t come as 149.

I will suggest the 146 Le Grande BP. The 144 (smaller) is a bit too thin for my hand. However, the 149 fountain pen is beastly in a very good way and there is nothing like writing with a #9 nib.

I have a meisterstuck 164 platinum which I find a perfect pen for me although I have hands the size of shovels .
