Need bracelet help from forum members
Good morning all-
I am looking at a 2007/2008 Datejust 116200. When I tried it on at my dealer, I noticed that the clasp trigger (the piece that clocks the clap to the bracelet) is not "springy". It feels like it is not spring loaded so difficult to get the clasp closed. My ealer tells me this is the way the older clasps are and that Rolex changed the clasps to be spring loaded after 2007/2008. Is this true? EO6 on clasp and bracelet has code 72200 |

Your dealer is in error. The safety clasp, the part that flips over the bracelet clasp, is not spring loaded. Before or after 2007.

It doesn’t have a fold over clasp, that’s sports watches only

Thank you all. To clarif - I am not talking about the foldover clasp, I understand this model datejust does not have one. Rather, I am referring to the clasp that locks to the bracelet. The part circled in red in this picture. I believe what I am hearing is that this piece is not spring loaded on the 116200 unlike my newer Oyster Perpetual 39 where this piece is spring loaded. Can you confirm?

The clasp code comes back as 2007 in some internet code lists.
But there’s no telling it’s real just because it has a 72200/EO6 code. Reps like EO6 and it’s used a lot on “generic” Oyster bracelet clasps. Without pictures who knows? An owner may have trashed their original bracelet or clasp and went for a generic version. My bottom line is this: if it’s difficult to close then pass and find another DJ.
