5513 PCG Gilt Underline . . .full, full set. 1965

I'm over the moon. I have other gilt no crown guard subs, but this one is amazing. Picked it up today.

Gilt, underline dial. Not a crack or craze. Acrylic crystal has some deep scratches, but most buffed out. Actually thought the dial was going to be all cracked when I first saw it.

Pointed crown guard with original crown:

Box and papers? How about everything including the original sales receipt:

Serviced? Yes, once by Rolex in 1975 for $47 plus $2 shipping.

As reflected in the IIII 63 case back

Bracelet date coded to 4/64. . .

Wow great pick up! Underlines are my favorite. Do you have a good story for the acquisition?

Excellent set! I think David Watch is still around, but not on Des Voeux Rd any more.

This is from ten years ago https://watch-fever.blogspot.com/201...hong-kong.html

Honestly, I was starting to think anything like this was a dream or would require a refinance or kidney or two but they are still out there, so I'll keep the hunt on.

I dont have huge resources, but i buy what I like when I can. I remember the "fan" of a certain Rolex sports model laughing and unable to look at my pick ups for the year a couple years back. . .Well, besides all the Rolex and tudor that stay in my collection everytging was flipped for profit.

For this watch, I had several $5k and $3k (other than Rolex or Tudor) watches that I was able to quickly flip that I had purchased right and had room to make a profit and move fast. This move reduced my collection by seven leaving me with only my Breitling, Marinemaster, and new Railmaster in my other than oyster category.

I have excellent relationships with several local jewelry stores and they know what i want. On general, older folks do not know about this web based thing we have. They like brick and mortar and bring treasures in to sell and different milestones and stages in their lives. Often local independents will then work to get these treasures to the big online sites. Establish good relationships!!

As for flipping what i like, it has allowed me to aquire my 16718, 116515, 5508, this 5513, and a handful of other, in my eye, heavy hitters. I need to inventory, but have probably close to 30 Rolex and Tudor in my collection (new and old) I generally will never move those. . . But dangle an early matte, meters fist full set '67 5512 with greenish excitable luminescent in front of me. . . .I may end up with a smaller collection.

Amazing the difference it made polishing the crystal, it looked too far gone.

That would be a birth year watch for me - one can dream.

Beautiful watch...
You must be willing to change the crown, it might be the photo but to me this one looks aftermarket ;-)
A 700 should look like this ...

Thanks all. Here is the money shot!

I used my trick to true up the end links. No more rattle and the engravings are now protected.

Did you place a little filler, like cork or something, between the crimped ends? I bought a pair of end links from a newer Swiss version jubilee for my oval link bracelet. No movement now. That said, it's quite apparent you do like full originality with your collection. And your collection is marvelous (Think old 80s 7up ad…)!

That's a stunning set, and love the backstory of how you're refining your collection. Big congrats!
