3186 GMT click spring question for the experts

If I recall correctly, the 3186 movement was introduced in late model 16570 Ex II’s in 2008, and then in the first ceramic GMT’s, and was found to develop problems with the jumping hand click spring breaking. As a result of this, Rolex redesigned the spring and began installing the improved spring into the movement, which cured the problem. My question is, does anyone know what year the new springs were first installed? Haven’t been able to find anything specific to this question with searches. Thank you.

Around 2015 is when the update rolled out. Both the spring and the gear it mounts on were updated.

Nowadays you rarely see the old type anymore.

Thank you very much.

I really appreciate the information. I have a 2015 116710BLNR, and was hoping to see if it would or would not have had the upgrade. Given that it is a 2015, do you think yes, no, or who knows?

Tough one, I don't know exactly when they started leaving the factory with the updated spring. It must be around 2015 as well.

Most original springs never had an issue with regular use, and you'll always get the update during a service. So I wouldn't worry about it too much

Thank you.

Good to hear that and that they automatically upgrade it at service.
