This is a great site with lots of great info.

I am purchasing my first Rolex. I am going with the SS Turn-O-Graph with the Oyster Bracelet. I am stuck on which dial to get. The blue dial is the one I gravitate to the most. However, since this will be a watch that I wear daily, would your opinions be to go for the black or white dial?

Lastly, the TOG that I have been eyeing seems to have been at my AD for quite some time. Is there a way to find out when this watch was made? The reason for asking this is I don't want to purchase a watch this expensive and it be two years old!

Thanks for any advice.

I would grab whichever one you like the most. I am not a blue fan but that is me. You can tell when the watch was produced by the first letter of the serial number. If you ask your AD and post here someone can tell you. Congrats on your soon to be new purchase

It doesnt make tooo much of a difference, best way to check is find out the serial number V - 2009 run, M - 2008 run, Z - 2007??, etc, etc, i think you can find out the production years on minus4plus6.com, not too sure, i prefer a black dial, looks dressier, sharper, white dials have never suited my ego lol....but its about what u like, i think blue is a bit of a novelty its great.....but i'm not too sure how long you'll like it....

Serial should be in the rectangular tag.. as kfsal said.. V-2009...if you want the newest..

My first Rolex was an older TOG. I always loved those watches - a little bit sport, a little bit dress. The white or black dial are my favorites.

It really doesn't matter what we think because you should go with the one you like the best. Remember you will be wearing it everyday. As for a BNIB Rolex it won't matter if it is a couple of years old. It is new and your warranty starts the minute you purchase the watch

I particularly like the TT black face TOG, and I wear an old one.

I think the blue is great looking, but the white and the black are more classic. I like the blue until I see either of the other two.

The white and the black look quite a bit different on the wrist, but they're both really handsome choices.

Get the blue !
If it is indeed been sitting for a few years then be sure and get that discount, you should get a discount on a DATEJUST anyways by virtue of it being a DateJust. But I like the blue dial Turn-o-graph. If you like the blue - look also at the Sub Date with blue dial.

My wife purchased the same blue ss tog, you are considering on oyster. I must say it has not left my wrist since, it is truly a delightful watch very stealth and versatile. I love the blue on the watch and the comfort link on the bracelet hits the right note. A perfect blend of sport and classic looks. The red second hand is simple stunning, at the end of the day, I went for this watch, as I wanted some thing different, form my usual sports Rolex purchases. Only you can ultimately decide if you want it. I love mine and would recommend it. Best of luck in your pursuit of your watch.

Buy whatever YOU like most and believe you can live with on your wrist every day. For years I wanted a Rolex and when it came time I searched solely on what I thought looked best and reflected my personality... Being able to afford anything up to $10k I wound up with a used mint DJ and I absolutely LOVE IT!

Buy something that will make you smile with pride every time you look at it.

drtooth73 made the comment about going with a Sub. Thinking about that he me have given you some good advice being this your first Rolex. After getting a TOG and learn more and see some other watches you may just wish you had gone with a 40mm sports watch. Just something to think about.

i appreciate all of your replies. The reason I cannot go with the Sub is I have real small wrists. About the size of a 12 yr old girl!

However, if you can get astainless and gold all white for the sub with blue bezel and dial, I am there! Let me know, I need proof
