Crown Guard on Daytona

I just wanted to know what is your opinion on the crown guards on the modern Daytona. What is the point, when it is in between two pushers??? Do many prefer the older style daytona from the 1970's sans guards?

Yes I prefer the Daytona's from the 70's but there is no way I can afford one.

Like the guards, but gotta say you are right on the questionable usefulness.

I like both vintage and modern Daytonas. I like the guards, but would take a vintage if I could afford it.

Hardly pointless anything that protects the weakest point, the crown and winding stem, has to be a benefit in my book.

I meant they were kind of pointless when you consider that the main crown is protected by the guards but also by the pushers which of course both remain un-protected (from one side each).......I know exactly why they are there and of course on any other model with them they serve exactly the purpose they are there for....to protect the main crown....but with the chrono' pushers there what are the shoulders really doing???....hence a bit pointless....I still love them though....

I would love to own any Daytona whether it does or does not have crown guards. But they do serve a purpose instead of just looking good!!!
