Just had the call. Think times are changing

So this morning I checked my email and there was one from a dealer about 50 miles from home. “We have the opaline dial GMT available if you’d like?”

Now I do like the GMT but would rather they addressed the lack of adjustability a la the bb54.

About an hour ago I took a random call - was another, more local dealer offering game the Exp II polar that I’d expressed interest in back in April.

I’m abroad right now but fingers crossed they’ll hold it for me.

I was beginning to think the lists were imaginary so made up to hear this.

Good to see you are getting offered watches something that you’d like to think you’ll get more of

That isn't too long a wait at all for the Polar. Congrats! I do hope this means things are opening up.

I expressed interest in a BB54 about two months ago and received a call the other day to check it out.

Caught me on the hop. Thought was going to be a car dealer getting back to me plus was driving in France. Should’ve thought quicker and said I’d pay a deposit. Hopefully manager will be ok holding it. Fingers crossed.

That’s awesome, Exp II is a great watch.

Let’s keep some perspective though, a call for a Tudor and an ExpII is not exactly the damn breaking.

Oh my, sorry to hear that. Did you fully commit to buy it when first asked?

I said I’d like to come in and see it but wouldn’t be until early next week as I’m another country from home. Said would ask the manager and keep me informed. Gone unfortunately.

That’s insane to me. You were waiting for the watch for months and then you have the opportunity and they can’t wait a few days?

If you back out, it will get sold in hours.

The fact that there’s a wait list for exp II is, to me personally, and embarrassment of some sort. Maybe it’s an embarrassment to society in general that people are so greedy they would buy like this to flip. I’m not referring to anyone here that buys the watch to keep.
This reminds me of what was going on with baby formula during the pandemic. Production was somewhat reduced and what was available was being purchased and then sold for double or triple the price on different website. It’s completely embarrassing. I heard of a guy who bought all the salt in town during a bad storm and put it on Facebook marketplace. LOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLL

Why didn't you give them your credit card and just pay for it? Sorry you missed it!

Because they didn’t give the opportunity to and I sort of assumed it’d be ok until after the weekend and was caught out. Oh well- lesson learned. But that being said it can wait. They’re out there.

Why is it that every time someone gets a call they assume the times are changing..

Seems to me most models are still pretty hard to acquire.

Mappin & Webb in York had both the Black Bay GMT with opaline dial, and the 54 for sale in the window when I was passing on Wednesday, so they are available.
