AD offer a package deal?
Evening All,
Got a text from my AD this afternoon. He offered a datejust everose mother of pearl with diamonds dial along side with a Batman. I wonder if I should take the “package” and sell the datejust right the way to a grey dealer - I may lose on taxes but at least I still get a new Batman. Any suggestions? Just want a clear mind to help think it through. Thanks ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would pass judging how soft the market is lately.

Maybe make a few inquiries on the DJ? Could end up taking quite a bath on it assuming any dealer even wants it.

Great news. No chance of such a bundle being offered 2 years ago.

For a Batman, I’d bundle a TT DJ at best.

If I’m looking at the right watch on the Rolex site that’s a $35200 piece. Very specialized watch, one you should never buy unless you absolutely want it. You would take a bath unloading it, not many in the market for it, a grey would offer you peanuts.

Perhaps just pay a visit with a friend, have them show you both watches for your inspection/approval and declare the DJ unacceptable.
Hand over your credit card while saying, I accept your offer. Rolex has updated the T&Cs - ADs must not offer tie-in sales (aka bundles with quid pro quo). You’ll get your watch and they can keep the DJ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

You will lose far more than just the taxes. There are no grey dealers out there at this point in time who would pay you more than 70% of what you paid. If that. This is not 2020 anymore.

I would imagine you'd be better off buying the BLNR grey in this scenario.
The BLNR in the UK is trading for around 4-5k above retail, you will lose around 40-50% of the money spent on the DJ making this a very expensive BLNR at retail. |

AD offer a package deal?
Quote:
Definitely don’t buy the BLNR on the grey market. Prices are still outrageous and not moving at all. It’s not worth submitting an offer for something still 4-5k above what it should be. Hang tight. Wait it out. It’s just a watch at the end of the day. If you get the call from AD take the 4-5k you saved and go on a nice vacay or bu another watch. But paying Grey prices when they are on a life support is insane Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I am no expert in consumer retail law
But with any purchase you have a right to a refund usually within a certain period of time, correct? What is to stop you getting both. Then asking to return the one you don’t want? |

Not if you buy it in person and they peel off all the tags and foils in front of you.. At best, they could offer you a store credit.

Tell him/her that you spending 11 thousand dollars of your hard earned money in their store will have to suffice.
Don't know the size of the DJ or if it has a diamond bezel along with diamond markers, but you will lose a lot of money selling to a gray. |

I was offered a batman with US$8K spending on Tudor . But the Tudor must include at least 2 non-sports model plus sports model to cover any difference. The sports model cant be the latest ones in the last two years.
I passed on it. I like Tudors, but I have all the Tudors I wanted. I have Daytona, Sub, Skydweller, DJ, OP and Exp II, so my collection is mainly missing a GMT, which I am despite to buy, but I hold onto it. Worst comes by, I go grey and get a batman from 2014 which is very close to current retail. |
