First Watch to get. TT Rootbeer or DJ36 Mint Green? Mostly casual

Hi guys,

I’m looking to get one of those two watches and as much as I would like to have both in my collection, I can only get one at this time.

I really like the Mint dial on DJ but also a big fan of Black and Brown bezel on Rootbeer as it is more stealth than I thought before trying on.

I usually in my jeans and tees sometimes long sleeve, I rarely put my suit on.

What should be my first choice?

I know the pricing is very different but I think rootbeer with oyster would be a good fit for casual

Thank you

The Rootbeer is hard to beat as casual watch. If and when Rolex discontinues it I think a lot of people will look back at it as a classic.

Top of my list for sure. Would you say its a watch to grow old with? I think it would the one that stays in my collection regardless

When I ordered mine I expected it to be a watch I wore on occasion. When it arrived it immediately became my daily for 6 straight months. It still gets more wrist time than all my others. I couldnt imagine getting rid of it.

My nephew has the Root Beer GMT and it is a beautiful timepiece. Photos don't do it justice, as it looks great in person.

Root beer

You get a lot with that watch

36 will be a bit small on the wrist

I have a fairly flat 6.25in wrist so 41 is a bit uncomfortable

I suggest the DJ36 as I doubt the GMT at 40mm is much more comfortable than the Submariner at 41mm.

With that wrist size, I’d go with the mint green DJ 36 fluted on jubilee first, then get a 5 digit sub/gmt.

You can’t loose either way. I just picked up a DJ, Fluted Bezel, SS Mint Green Dial and it’s absolutely a stunner. I wasn’t really looking for one, but this is one of those situations where the guy selling is buying pieces offered to build a stronger relation with the AD.

Depending on your wrist size. If your 6.5 inches or less, the 36mm might more sense. If not, I would go with the GMT.

When I first considered Rolex I definitely thought professional models were the way to go but honestly I fell in love with the datejusts and Daydates ...to me they are just so classic and versatile...may be in the minority but I would go DJ.

Side note at end of the day it's your money and you should get what you want.

Depends on your wrist size, go 36mm if on the smaller side.
Cant go wrong with a Datejust.

Let's get some wrist shots in here! My vote is the Root Beer. It's a very low key TT watch.

I hate TT
I find it gaudy and I think it looks even flashier than PM a lot of the time.
(that is simply my worthless .02 cents)

Id go for the DJ hands down.
I think it will look much more casual with jeans and a t and elegant when in a suit.

Chnr for me, so long as your skin tone is able to pull off the rose gold hue.

If you're going to end up with both, just get the one that's easiest to acquire first and enjoy the hell out of it until you are ready to buy the second. They will make a really nice complementary pair.

I’d go with the GMT first in case the RB ends up getting discontinued. You’ll always be able to get a DJ :)
