Rolex 124060 Submariner - power reserve?

Hi guys, I know the power reserve for this Sub reference is 70 hours, but wondering whether people have tested that in reality.

I hadn't worn mine for a couple of days and it looked like it lasted ~35-40 hours...

Mine lasts two days, not three.

Manual wind until the clutch slips and then test it.

It takes 400-500 full rotor rotations per day just to keep the watch running without adding any reserve.

There is no clutch all that happens when mainspring is fully wound it just slips in the spring barrel just like it would do on wrist.

Wearing a watch dont always wind the watch to peak power, its wrist activity that winds the watch. So before wearing if not very active manually wind watch around 40 full crown turns clockwise only.

That’s good enough to be in spec. Rolex states “approximately” 72 hours of power reserve. I test all my watches power reserve and I have owned a lot of Rolex models. Most come in between 70-73 hours.

So for clarification, the newer sub, 126610, how many winding rotations until it is fully wound? Approximately that is.

Around 40-50 full crown turns clockwise only, but you cannot overwide no matter how many you do, but wind clockwise only. And before some chime in it will increase the wear by manually winding. Just think of all the manual wind watches with screw down crowns Rolex included. They got wound up daily for decades, and a automatic watch is just a manual wind watch with a auto wind mechanism.

I wind all my autos 50-60 times, when I put them on. You can’t overwind them. Cheers!

A 32xx caliber needs 35-40 full (360 degrees) crown winding turns; measurements you find here:

From a dead stop, I wind my both of my watches until I feel their mainsprings slip in their barrels--no more, no less.

Rolex specs for the power reserve of the Submariner Ref. 124060 (caliber 3230) is "approximately 70 hours" and not 72 hours.

The minimum power reserve for the 32xx movements is 69 hours.

With measured 70+ hours your watch is within specs.

70 hours is correct, 72 was a typo.
