Platinum day date fit ?
I own two day dates - one WG and one YG.
I struggle with the lack of bracelet adjustment, my wrist expands a lot from training so I tend to wear it looser to give it room. Got me thinking this would be even more of an issue with the added weight of platinum. For reference I do have a platinum Daytona. Not in the market - just curious on owners experiences? |

I have had a couple platinum Day Dates. They've all fit well with no annoyances at least for my wrist

I can’t be of help to your question, never had one, but really would love to own one someday. After my first buyout. :)

I wear mine a lot. I have a lot of watches and rotate something different pretty much every day. Except the platinum day date, I wind up wearing it a few days in a row which doesn’t really happen with any of my other watches. Maybe I’m lucky with the fit but I’ve never even thought about this issue.

In a word brutal, if you are not a perfect DD fit. The weight of the platinum is enough over gold so if the watch is a tad loose it turns and sags and if a tad too snug its noticeably pulls. The gold is just light enough so that the margin of error for fit is much wider. The solution, if needed, may be the 1.5 link, but it is costly in platinum.

^^^This is the solution over the years when this topic comes up. While making a fist, see if a pinky finger can slide under the bracelet right next to the clasp. That’s been the general rule for those of us that live in a 4 season climate.

Can be somewhat unpleasant. I also cannot get a good fit on my platinum 40 (either way too tight or loose and slides around) but the WG DD40 seems to fit so much better. Got to be the extra weight.

Have a Platinum Daytona and fitment is not an issue but recently bought a new 40 mm DD and I appear to be between sizes some. I can wear it when I am not out sweating or where my wrists swells then it becomes too tight. I am in the process of ordering a 1/2 link from Rolex. 1,050 for a half link.

for me it was either way too loose if i added one or way too tight if i removed one. with the 1.25 (it's not a half link) it's snug when it's cold and not tight enough to the point where it hurts when it's hot. it's not gonna be perfect but i prefer the fit to be snug so to me that's manageable and better than it flopping around all over because it's loose or cutting circulation because it's too tight. i have basically the same fit with a datejust since it has 3 positions in the clasp and i don't ever bother using the easy link anyway

You Rolex guys are spoiled with all your little bracelet fine adjustments over the years… there is NO fine adjustment on the royal oak or nautilus. Had my RO on vacation, went from NYC to the carribean and my wrist swelled and couldn’t wear my RO the entire vacation and ended up watchless. Not having a fine adjustment in the DD is no big deal, just make seasonal link changes.

Love Mine...But I do find it a little annoying with no adjustments for the bracelet.
If a way to adjust the bracelet (like the 2mm adjustment to each side on the Nautilus) I would add more Day Date pieces. |

I’ve had a PT DD40 twice and moved them both along. While they fit perfectly sometimes, other times it felt a tad loose or tight. Being heavy, it got annoying. I’ve now got the PT Daytona and I can get a perfect fit with the different adjustments possible. It’s now the most comfortable watch I own. Only DD I now want is a 36 in YG at some point, which won’t be a daily.

I wear it on the loose side because that's much more comfortable than tight. It's a bit looser than I want, but I'm used to it and it's fine. Total distance it travels is a bit over 2" (from below my wristbone, where my hand stops it, to my forearm above my wristbone). I thought about getting the 1.5 link (or 1.25 link -- don't remember) but wasn't motivated by sufficient discomfort to do that.

Don't have one, but my thinking? I would probably steer clear of that model for that very reason. I agree with you, with a choice of a little loose or tight on a DD, I would go loose...but with platinum, that could very well be a deal breaker.
Fitment is already an issue with the DD, and I would think the Platinum would just compound the difficulty level of achieving that perfect fit. Side note: the DD2 fits a little differently than the DD40, so if you get one and can't find the sweet spot, you could always try the other. |

I wear mine on the loose side. The weight does cause it to slide a bit.

I got the 1.25 , helped but 2 would likely be even better for me. As for platona, I actually wear that one 1 tighter in the clasp than my ss due to heft so I’m ok with it being a bit snug
