Datejust Motif Dials may be removed from the line up.

Last month I had expressed interest on the Mint Green Motif 41mm OP at the AD and she called me this week to tell me that they had been notified by Rolex to not expect or commit any of the Mint Green or Blue Motif watches because the Mofit dials are being retired. She mainly spoke about the Mint green and Blue Motif, I’m not sure about the other colors.
Yesterday, I stopped at another AD that I know well and the manager shared that same statement with me.

The Rolex website still shows those 2 colors on the line up. I guess time will tell.

There is another recent thread about this exact topic. You can search to find it, and read all about it. To summarize, it appears to be true, about the blue and green, as well as the palm dials. Apparently, all,of the bright colored OPs will also be discontinued, with the possible exception of the Celebration dial, which was released just last year.

Unfortunately this seems to be the case. I stopped in to visit my AD yesterday and they informed me that they are not expecting anymore blue or green motif dials.

Do you mean fluted dial ? What about the floral motif, is that going away too?

Or do you mean the Olive Palm Motif dial?

And yes, there has been multiple and credible (very) reports of all motif and fluted dials being disco’d.

The palm dials and the fluted dials are all to be discontinued. I think there are 3 colors of fluted: green, blue, and gold, and the green and gold palm dials.

As far as I know, ALL fluted are being discontinued. I was unaware of the silver and slate fluted. Guess we’ll all know , for sure, next month.

I was offered a fluted dial. I think they will appreciate in price due to rarity. I didn't take it, simply because it made the time difficult to read. Very dependent on the colourway. The gold/satin and blue seemed not to be effected so much

Rolex often ditches designs, or even ranges (e.g. Cellini) that are underperforming against whatever matric they are measuring by.

As Rolex supply loosens up a little, Rolex needs to be conscious more of what is popular and what is not, as not everything will fly off the shelves by default

Fluted dials are part of the motif family of dials. The mint green is not part of the motif family.

It’s a Fluted motif dial according to Rolex. Or a Palm motif dial, either in Golden or Palm.

Rolex dials come and go, from my experience if there’s a novelty one you like get it while you can. Datejusts in particular have had all kinds of cool dials that only lasted a few years.
If the OP line effectively goes back to classic colors (black, blue, silver) I’ll be baffled as to why the short run for the bright colors.
I always thought the red grape OP39 was a bold choice and when I saw the new stella homage line come out in 2020 at a dealer trunk show, I knew I wanted one.
I got the last coral red OP41 my AD received in February ‘22 just weeks before it was discontinued. Wanted a yellow next but too late so I added a green one last year and have hopes for a Celebration this year. Just seems like a lot of work to revamp the whole line only to drop half the options in just a few years.

The palm dials are just beautiful, just bought this for my wife last december, i am glad that i was able to secure one before these dials gets discontinued later this year

This is a shame. Both the fluted dials and colorful dials are a nice break from the usual Rolex dials (nothing wrong them, I just appreciate the variation), so removing them is a loss.

@KatGirl by bright colorful OP dials do you mean the pink and tiffany only, or would that also include the green and blue?

I think the blue is safe, but green, pink, and turquoise will be history. Silver and black should also be safe.. Biggest surprise is the green, which is so popular.

I went to my AD today (one of the official distributers as per the Rolex website) and asked them about this. It caused them to suddenly lose their English skills which makes me think perhaps they're not supposed to release this information and didn't want to lie to me.

Yes, they looked very uncomfortable when I brought it up, so I'm guessing the rumours are true.

It's a shame, although let's wait and see what/if they replace them with.

Rolex is a very interesting company when it comes to how they manage their brand.
