Huge congrats, this is one of my grails as well. Any story to share about it? What type of purchase history did you have to get allocated from the AD?

Thank you! It's truly a dream piece and truly blessed to finally have it on the wrist.

Regarding your question as to my AP journey, I started collecting AP's back in 2013 and purchased 4 offshores from my AD over 7 years and still have all of them. My AD lost their license and I switched over to the new AP boutique in about 2021. Worked with a new SA and they noted I had registered my offshores on the AP site and honored my purchase history (so thankfully I was not starting from scratch). Since then my wife has purchased 2 APs from the boutique, then my SA transitioned to the new AP House last year and since then I've been fortunate enough to receive 3 Royal Oaks: 15510st Blue dial, 15510or full gold and the 15407st!

I hope that's helpful background

Sounds like quite the fruitful relationship you've cultivated with AP. Glad it worked out for you and congrats on the new heavy hitting incoming!

Yes, not by me but multiple reputable folks on here have heard from their SAs that the successor will come this year

Thank you for the kinds words! As to the discontinuation of the 15407 I think Vince is correct. I actually asked my SA today and she hinted that it is being discontinued.

To be honest when you get the call for this piece you jump LOL! I love the aesthetics of the slate gray dial against the accents of the gold bridge and brass gears. The contrast, depth and endless details really just work perfectly IMO . The new iteration may also be amazing, but without knowing the details I can't be certain it would strike the same notes for me.

Congrats! So great to see the timepiece being allocated to a long standing collector.
The openwork is simply a top top collectible, across all brands.

Congratulations, John, this looks excellent on your wrist

Your journey is also very helpful as I always wonder how much purchases for the wife influence big allocations in general.
If you can recall, how long ago did you ask for the 15407 until they finally allocated?

Thank you! Purchases for the wife seem to carry some weight, but only buy what you/she really want. As for how long I waited for the 15407, it was a little over 2 years after expressing my interest.

Congratulations! It's a grail for sure. Also great to hear AP continued to look after you despite SA's moving around/AD losing its license!
