I'm curious. Why do you think there would be more stock in the Philippines than in the rest of the world ?

The supply versus demand is I would have thought the same in most places if not all. And hoping to pick up something on an overseas trip would be even harder as AD’s will look after their local clients as they should.

I'll save you the trouble. I was in Manila week before last:-

-Lucerne in Ortigas (Mandaluyong) - nothing in stock
-Lucerne in BGC - nothing in stock
-Lucerne in Solaire - nothing in stock
-Shangri La - nothing in stock

If you have no history they have nothing for you - end of story.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't every ad get an allotment of watches on a regular basis. so while they have no watches to sell you they're still selling their allotment. so actually they do have Rolexs to sell to the people who they want to sell them to.

The rumor in the Philippines is that cash on the side to the AD is what greases the wheel. Otherwise, no chance.

At times some ADs would bundle 1-2 unsellable watches from other brands for them to sell you a steel sports watch.

Or sell you stuff you don’t really want just to get the watch you have been waiting for…….that sounds almost normal

Watch ADs in the PH are pretty much run the same way the country does. People are corrupt. Wishing to buy a Rolex here is close to impossible especially if no prior history.

I am not sure whether the local ADs get less allocation or is everything allocated to the VIPs.

Would like to add that there are a lot of Filipinos you will see in the high end malls wearing high end watches. At times I think how is it possible for local ADs to run our of stuff, but I guess the AB and to some extent C crowd does have the purchasing power to buy most of the ADs stocks. There is a big disparity in wealth and power in the PH and its really disappointing.

Was even surprised that the local IWC can sell 25 pcs per month.

Are you disappointed that such a disparity extends to health care, housing, education opportunities, income and standard of living? Are you disappointed that such a disparity has existed since human societies were first formed? That such disparities exist around the globe and that efforts of governments, volunteer organizations and NGO haven’t seemed to make much of a dent?

Or is it your disappointment limited to the seemingly unequal access to Porches, Birkin bags and Rolex watches?

To be fair , I am proud that the country has done well so to speak and the infrastructure seems to have gotten better but as mentioned , there is still disparity with wealth among the general population and yes , some grease money does go a long way and that goes from all walks of life …having grown up there it’s amazing

If a Rolex mystery shopper goes to a Philippine AD and finds out about the sales tactics by the AD's... it won't meet the Rolex experience.. lol

I visit the Philippines 3 times a year and I used to always visit the local Rolex ADs.

It was always the same result, there was never anything available for purchase.

They put my name on a "wishlist", but nothing ever came of it.

It was a total waste of time.

I would try Hong Kong. They have a million Rolex ADs. I'm sure one of them would be willing to see you something. Plus, it's only a hour flight from Manila and is visa free if you're an American.

The OP could also visit Singapore.. try your luck as many Rolex AD here too.

Just alone walking down Orchard Road, there is like 8 Rolex AD, start from Voco hotel and end at Pullman hotel. Also, in between you have a bunch of grey dealers/secondary watch dealers.

Sounds promising, but I probably want to fly to SG just to visit an AD in the hopes of finding a desirable piece..
