Rolex Bezel Wobble -Repair help needed

I want to start by saying I am no expert in watch repair but I tinker and help friends and family out with sizing bracelets and replacing batteries on quartz models etc. I recently had someone ask if I can help with a loose bezel that has a wobble to it. I was surprised when they showed me a essentially new yacht-master 42 in white gold 226659. I told them to just bring it to the dealer they purchased from and let them handle it as its fully covered under warranty. They informed me they already went down that road but were told a 8-12 week turnaround time and didn't want to be without the watch that long. So we started researching and it seems like a possible cause could be the bezel springs needing to be replaced. I am nervous to even attempt at popping off the bezel regardless of all the how to videos I've watched. Is this crazy for me to even entertain trying to fix this ? If anyone has any expertise with this issue please chime in. Appreciate the help.

If you're nervous I would not touch it. Especially with a WG case which can more easily scratch. Play it safe, have the dealer look into it, your friend will live without it.

That was my first thought exactly. Its certainly out of my comfort zone but some of the how to videos seem straight forward for bezel removal and replacing the springs. I may call Rolliworks and see if this is something they might be able to help with and what there turnaround times are like at the moment. My biggest fear would be cracking that ceramic bezel.

Yes it is crazy for entertaining the thought that this is a DIY. It is absolutely not.
Not possible to get the parts needed i.e. the gasket like material ring under the insert.

The videos you watched are probably for the 5 digits series watch which are very easy and have an aluminum bezel insert. That even my sister can do.

You end up cracking the bezel insert. To the RSC with it and wait the 8 to 12 weeks and thank me later.

I would not touch that watch. If you try something and make it worse, they (Rolex) will void his warranty.

Have him send it in to the RSC. I just read a complete service took about 10 days. No way 8-12 weeks.

Have him call Dallas direct. Leave the AD out of it.

They all "wobble" to some extent when you press on one side or the other as a function of riding on the spring-loaded bearings.

Do you mean that you can actually see a wobble as it rotates around the flat plane of the case, or that you are just pressing on a side and see it spring up and down ?

Thanks Rich and after seeing everyone's response I am going to pass on the info directly to my buddy and not deal with his local AD for the repair.

No way, Jose’. Step away from that deal. You potentially void the remainder of the warranty and that may be an issue for other items in the future.

Same advice you should give your friend - stop pushing on the bezel...

You will never find proper OEM parts or repair manual (YouTube are hacks) so the fix will not be perfect so there’s no up side and only a huge downside (snapping bezel during removal). Rolex will have it fixed in 4-8 weeks which is a small price to pay.

What you could've done on a 5 digit model cant be done on this watch. Let RSC do it.

Love this forum thank you for the feedback. Confirmed my thoughts. Just too expensive and risky to even attempt fumbling through this and with zero repair parts available its a mute point. He can borrow one my moonswatchs while its getting repaired. I'll try and follow up and see how his service goes with the Dallas center. I am curious how long the process will take.
