Which would you choose?

All are 16570 Polars but trying to decide between 1) Swiss only dial, full set, 2) Swiss made, holes case SEL bracelet (no B&P), 3) later model 3186 with full set. There are price differences (3186 most expensive of the bunch), but not factoring that in to the decision. Wouldn’t sell anytime soon, but overall collectibility is a consideration for me. I like the idea of SEL/holes case for strap changes, but not sure that outweighs lack of B&P. Thoughts??

Well speaking for myself would not pay extra for a 3186 movement that's for sure so just buy the one that best condition and price your comfortable in paying.

Yeah, complete set is an important consideration. Narrowed to the Swiss only dial and the 3186, both with complete set. Any final words of wisdom? Leaning towards the 3186.

Well it depends whether you like the interaction with the 3185 and its wobbly jumping hour hand. But it’s supposed to be an extremely tough, well made and long lasting one. Like most Rolex movements really.

If your 3186 has the "thin" hour marker surrounds" dial, that would be a dealbreaker for me.

Excellent choice & congrats. I like it in both the thin & thick hour surrounds. This level of nit-pickery is only found here. Wear it in good health.

Thanks! Curious what everyone means by thick vs thin hour surrounds? Is there a difference in these late model 16570s?

There are dial differences and the polar dialed ones show it in the black surrounds on the hour plots.

If you have already committed, it means you liked it as it looks so don't fret over one comment. I'm sure it will serve you well for years.

I would pass on the 3186.
This was the first iteration of the movement that had the Jumping Hour Click Spring issue.

The broken spring issue on the early 3186 are well known.

I have had no issues with my 3186 movements (both 2008 models) but I did read of a 3186 user posting that he could spin through the dates just as fast as a quickset?

I don't think you could go wrong with any of the options really and it looks like the one you bought is in nice overall condition. I personally would have gone with the swiss only dial and papers all else being equal. I say condition is the most important factor though.

Good looking watch. I do prefer lug holes and SELs on these models. I do not see any benefit with a 3185 or 3186 movement, but preferences are what the chase is all about.

One of mine.

Thanks again all! Really happy with this decision. The final factor was that it seems to be in unpolished condition and came with a Rolex service card (so I know it’s been cared for). Couldn’t be happier. Including a morning pic!

#2 option for me as long as condition is good.

I have the 3186 option and while I enjoy the uniqueness of the engraved rehaut and all I absolutely wouldn’t pay extra for it. Plus I would’ve liked to have lug holes.
